Well having only just got my HW100 and all the bits I wanted for it, I cant believe Im already lusting after a bolt action, Always said I wanted a springer, side lever PCP and a bolt action and already two thirds there!!

So after much research I have narrowed it down to two so hoping you guys can help me decide

S410 full length in Walnut or a Daystate Huntsman Regal HR, really like the Daystate but it would have to be S/Has not longer avaiable with bolt action I believe so would proberbly get it serviced with new seals etc to make sure its tip top so need to factor that in or a new S410. Really like the look of both, the the Daystate is edging it on reviews and looks so over to you guys for your thoughts

It's very much a personal choice.
Some prefer a traditional bolt action, and some prefer the simplicity of a side lever.
Go with whatever takes your fancy.

I have a side lever in my HW100 and springer but really fancy a bolt action as well, traditional rifle feel and then I would have one of each type so sorted......................................... or perhaps a break barrel as well................................. and a CO2. Does this maddness never end lol

the only rifle i own that is a bolt action is a Ripley AR5s, fantastic rifle, bit harder to cock than usual as JH short stroked it but it's a tack driver and nice to look at.

I do prefer a side lever myself though

If it was me the huntsman, hold out for a good stock. Then you'll have a beautiful bolt action gun. My Revere is my best performer.

I have a tuned bsa ultra then bolt can be used by my little finger light and smooth. The reason I mention this...

Try a 410 first. I only used one and it was AAs own it was notchy and I found it difficult to set. Instructor helped and mentioned its a knack you learnt. Not a pleasure compared to my ultra.

There's something extremely satisfying about pulling a bolt action back,or is it just me being a sado.

I have both and the 410 is a knack that’s needs learning the daystate Smooth as silk but both deadly accurate

Have to say as an owner of a pair of S400 and an Air Wolf MVT, the latter has all of the cosmetic experience of bolt loading and none of the effort.

It's smoother but I don't know if it is more satisfying.

I have always liked the Huntsman and had a few. I have never liked the 400:series, puerly a personal choice and I know they are good, it’s just that drinking straw where the barrel should be and the easily knocked out of line barrel band are a symptom of the 1990’s, and should have died out there!

When switching from break barrel to PCP, I really liked the idea of bolt action. I was maybe really unlucky with my first two as first I couldn't do a thing with so that went back and I exchanged it for an Ultra CLX that felt gritty and clunky with a tendency to discharge on cocking! The other issue for me was when shooting rats at night, they could hear the bolt in action and would bolt themselves! Not so much of an issue in daytime when there was more ambient noise and no issue at all when I got a super silent side lever version. And then another.

I still like the idea of bolt action and the traditionalist in me is disappointed in giving up my break barrel so I'm about to see if my elbows fare any better with an underlever.

It’s a hard question. S410 was my first fun, from my dad before he left us, and the regal was the first one o bought where I really decided I want it. Still got both and shoot them regularly as they’re both excellent.
Really couldn’t choose between them (sentimental value aside), but it’s really a case of which you prefer when you shoulder them.

I can recommend a BSA R12 CLX with the bolt action.

Don’t think bolt actions are functionally any better than a lever but they do look a load better and have a nice sporter type feel to them. It feels more the biz.

I'd probably go with the Huntsman as I think it looks better, the 410 is apparently very good but I find them a bit boring.

Had a BSA R10 Super Carbine and the bolt action was smooth as butter, similar story with my Daystate MK3. They may be the exception to the rule but I would go bolt action all day. Both the 410 and Huntsman are nice rifles and only you will know what is best for you
