Visited a few perms last night whilst it was forecast to be dry. The only downside it was forecast to be really windy with gusts up to 28 mph. I opted for FAC air at 40 fpe, DS Air Ranger.

First farm had slim pickings and I only saw 6 despite a good few hours of walking about in the wind, all big adults and all shot. When I realised they were lying low I decided to nip next door and set up again. No bait being used.

Some real chunks running about inside the sheds and out on the yards. Primarily beef and sheep on both farms with really old brick buildings and sheds. The rats are inside the walls and feeding on livestock feed. All shots between 15-35 yards, longer shots had to be adjusted when gusty. Roland doesn’t fare well with 18gr at 40 fpe.

A few flipped into puddles they were drinking from as it had been raining all day. My size 12’s above, most 18 inches long.

Anyways after a few hours and being blown sideways at times I’d shot 18 and recovered 15, some I just couldn’t reach. It started to rain too as I was packing up so a good time to say goodnight thanks for coming.

Not a bad return but not as busy as I’d expected. Farmer was happy as he absolutely hates them.

All bagged up zip tied and ready for the burn site.

Morning John....yep my few month hiatus has come to an end and its been good to get out....in all Weathers 😃. yeah didn't see any grey coats at all....all big adults.

There are some big Rats there well done @Nocturnal although I have been Ratting for years, I generally go in the morning but I am starting to go on a night instead, the farmer is still pottering about up until about 7ish so the Rats are used to lights around the yard so I am finding them not so lamp shy..........I don't know how long that will last though.

Hey Micah cheers for reading/ commenting pal....yeah i find them comfortable with shed lights on at night that farmer's leave on, some sheds even have the radio on 24/7 and they don't seem to mind that either. I often see them busting moves 🕺.

tidy stuff mate
rats and wind can be a poor mixture, so thats decent numbers.
Cheers bud......yeah although I'd usually shoot from outside the sheds into the sheds the wind forced me indoors at times...it was like someone nudging you as your trying to acquire the target otherwise. Just have to adjust holdover the closer I got.

Sound mate 👍
The farmer leaves a couple of the lights on for me but I think he will draw the line at the Radio
( think of the electric bill 😂 )

Great bag in those conditions, it’s a real challenge when it’s difficult just to hold the gun steady.

40 ft/lbs & 18g……..no wrigglers !
Yep fac is the only choice for me out in the fields around the pheasent feeders, I will be starting after 31 jan when the goose shooting season finishes. 46 ftlb with .25 cal at 25.4 grn!
