Inflation is the unwelcome elephant in the room. It erodes the value of our money at an alarming rate.
I recall going with my father to buy my first air rifle in 1962... it was a BSA Merlin and cost £5 brand new, plus a extra 10/6d (52p) for the 4x15 scope.
It seemed like a lot of money at the time to an impoverished, young schoolboy.
