Sad news about a genuine comedian and real nature lover. A shame our modern so called comedians and nature experts are nowhere near his standard.

Yes such a shame like many i loved the goodies growing up many mons back --and birding with Bill Oddie --then Spring watch was worth watching when he was on it -- Thanks for the laughs and pleasant TV time with the wildlife and bird life you brought into our homes ---Godspeed RIP

I just read this when coming here after a short absence . He always seemed so full of life . Great memories watching re-runs of the The Goodies .

Must admit I was a fan. I watched The Goodies regularly in the 70's because it was a good old fashioned laugh, but I particularly enjoyed his bird watching and wildlife programs because his genuine passion for the subject was obvious, and he didn't work from a script - he was intelligent, articulate, and knowledgeable enough to tell you everything you needed to know without one.
I thought he was poorly treated by the BBC, being dropped from Springwatch when there was a lot of mileage left in him, just because they wanted the program to have a younger face.
