I have just received my order #000079872
of 50 Umarex Co2 capsules and to say I am extremely disappointed in them is an understatement.
I have been buying my stock from you for many years and I cannot get over the poor quality of this order so much so I am wondering if they are even genuine Umarex products or some cheap copy.
You can easily see from my photographs what I mean.

First picture shows six capsules.
The three on the right are my existing stock. Smooth, shiney quality finish with distinct well printed Umarex logo and information. The caps are well rounded and flat. Seamless. They pierce well and do not cut up the seals.
The three on the left are the ones I’ve just received from you.
The capsules are dull and rough to touch. The printing is very poor. The caps are extremely rough and dimpled so much that they do not pierce well and will certainly destroy the seals with their very rough edges.

Second photo shows the difference in the cap tops. The one on the right my good stock, the one on the left, those just received.

Third picture is two randomly picked from the 50 just received. Shockingly bad quality caps. They even look as if they are used.

These are not fit to be placed into a gun as 1, they cannot pierce properly and 2 the sharp edges will cut the green seal.

Unless you cannot supply the perfect Umarex Capsules I am sorry to say that I will no longer be purchasing from you and I intend to show my findings on Forum.

Yours sincerely

Captain D. A. Reid

This is the reply I got from JSR

Hi, Umarex have changed to a factory in China.
We've sold over half a pallet of this batch without problem.
If you wish to contact Umarex you can use this web page:

They almost look like returns
as it appears an attempt to strike did not work first time, and buyer sent back(can not be that with so many)
well know where I will not be buying from joke mate

Looks like a cost cutting exercise with resulting quality control issues. Shrug tt
Quick search on the Bay and the Umarex capsules pictured there look the same as your 'new' ones so it's not restricted to JSR.
Have you tried another manufacturer? Milbro?

Il most likely change to Anglo Arms. 29p ea @100 pcs from NMM.

What did Umarex say ? Have they confirmed the information provided from JSR which would indicate these products would now be the same from any seller?

This is worrying!

That's quite a poor response from what I thought was a reputable company (JSR).

I have a boxful of Umarex 12g CO2 capsules (had for some time), so I don't need any yet, but when I do, I will certainly NOT be buying Umarex, and definitely NOT from JSR!
They look terrible....no way I'm putting them in any of my guns!

All my guns are 12g CO2 so I'm also on the lookout for a different brand, but sadly all my local shops don't sell anything else apart from the Umarex brand.

A quick look at some other online shops, and it's a similar story....so far nothing but ruddy Umarex!

Any recommendations for a reputable online supplier that sells a decent, affordable brand that isn't Umarex?

I've got a load of those newer ones. Not as good quality as they used to be but still work absolutely fine with no issues. However, mine aren't dimpled on top like yours  Your ones genuinely look like they've had a failed attempt to use them!!

They look like the ones I have.
I bought a box of 100 well over a year ago (probably over two years ago now that I think about it!) from a local shop, and they have that same circular 'shape' pressed into the cap....which I presume is a designed, 'weakened' spot to aid clean piercing.

Perhaps you have been lucky, and received some from an older (better?) batch.

Here's two of mine, picked at random:

**EDIT**

@CaptDAR - I've just reviewed your images again, and it looks like the ones I have somewhat match your newer ones.

The type face is the same, and the end cap design is also the same....mine looks shinier though, and don't have that atrocious end cap 'dimple' that yours have.

This could mean that the design changed (and factory relocated to China) quite some time ago, and suppliers have been 'using up' old stock for possibly several years!

The new crap looking tops have been around for probably a year or so now. A few lads at the club have had issues with latest 'style'

Yep.... that's what I thought too - just edited my earlier post to say that same thing....you got in there before me! 😁

As a high end user of these Co2 capsules, i can understand your frustration at the obvious change in quality of the Umarex product, but what is the point in trashing a company with good rep on here - he can only supply what he is supplied with?
Surely he cannot be blamed for the fact that Umarex have decided to go on an obvious cost cutting exercise and moved to a far East manufacturer, they aren't exactly the first, or last company to do so.

I’m finished with JSR and told them in no mean terms. They are completely unhelpful. I purchased 50 along with pellets. I’ve gone through each and every capsules and 23 are safely usable in guns with seals. The remaining 27 can be used in my .50 cal and my two Winnie’s using the adapters.
I’ve got enough stock to reach the NSS when I’ll have my yearly stock up at the Pellpax stand.

It's unlikely you'll find any of the older ones, especially from busy shops.

Best bet will be to trawl around smaller shops who might have the older style still in stock.

I been a loyal purchaser of JSR for over 20 years for pellets and Co2. Their postage and packaging is excellent. These capsules are hand placed into poly bags and I’m sure they could have been visually checked.

@CaptDAR I had a delivery of 100 umarex capsules from JSRearlier this week, i didnt even look at them , didnt even open the box as ive always had good service from them , on the back of this thread, i just checked , and yes many are just like yours, I have tried one in a cp2, pierced ok and gases up fine but as you say what will it do to seals, quality control is none existent where ever they was made, a similar email will be going to JSR.

They'll be the same 'style' capsules Captain.

I bought my box of 100 (two pictured above) from Pellpax, back when they were based in Aylsham, Norfolk....a number of years ago.
(Pellpax is one of my local, walk-in stores)
They have since moved to North Walsham, Norfolk....not sure how many years ago....probably more than two though.
