Do these guns handle well, slightly front heavy?
Are they worth the extra pounds?

For some reason my dad has a pair of 20b Beretta 690's in 28" & 30", the former feels quite "whippy" to me but the extra 2" on the latter seem to calm it down in a way and make it feel more balanced (most 20b's feel too light to me).

I had a 30" 20 bore eell and it was an absolute wand to shoot, I think a 20 has to be 30" to keep a bit of weight to the swing as they are so light.

It depends what you mean by “handle well”.
I have had lots of Berettas over the years and have my own preferences but only have 20&28g S2 guns now.
30” barrels are very popular on 20g guns as above some like them to regulate their swing and prevent them poking at shots. The extra 2” may become a PITA if you are hide shooting a lot, and getting used to 28” barrels is just habit and muscle memory.
YOU need to shoulder them and work out your own preferences as we all have our own views on what we like.
Are they front heavy? To me yes and they feel retarded in the swing or damped, but others like this and the further forward balance point.
Are they worth extra money?
If you like how they feel and how it mounts and shoots for you then yes! Personally I’d prefer to wait 6 months and get a 28” set up than buy a 30.
For reference my current stable is a sil pig 1 with both 20and 28g barrel sets in 28”, and a 26” Al391 in 20g.

Thank you all for your comments especially The Burpster for an in depth reply.
Good food for thought.
