A nice flat ground blade in S30V, what more do you need to know. My first quality folder was a Benchmade AFCK, great quality knives, I purchased several in the following years including a Left and a Right handed Emerson CQC975 before switching to buying more spyderco and unique hand made knives.

I have a few Benchmades, and they're always quality knives, and really like the locking system that they didn't renew the patent on so now loads of knife manufacturers are using it.
As for Spyderco, I've always fancied one, but can never get past the looks? they just look a bit 'odd' to me. They always get great reviews though.

I like my Benchmades, the one on it own was my first which I cut down so it is legal in Alabama, and I like it with a shorter blade.

Yes I thick you are right, looks like you have one, very collection, I just wish that they we’re legal to carry here, I do like my cut down one I find with the handle being bigger and with the shorter blade it’s for me much easier to use.From the handle shape, I’d say that’s the AFCK
I had a couple of Benchmade knifes,I had a big clear out of factory made modern knives that went in the cull about 5 or 6 years ago now.
Very good quality and design,at the time I decided I wanted to concentrate on traditional slipjoints so the Benchmade along with about 30 other knives where sold off,not my pictures but these are examples of the 2 I had.

This is my Benchmade. A Doug Ritter RSK in M390 with a pair of Kevin Wilkins G10 grips. It lives in my bag of camping stuff.
I've looked at Benchmade Knives over the years but never saw anything that made me want to part with my hard earned. I did see one the other week on HH that looked nice but I can't remember which one it was, I'll scurry back over to the Benchmade section of HH and see if I can find it.

They really are quality knives and I have 6 or 7 in my collection. I think my favorite was the mini Barage with the assisted opening, incredibly smooth to open but alas it had to be de-assisted when the law changed. The axis lock really is a great system and even de-assisted they fly open and lock up solidly.
They didn’t used to have a UK legal slip joint so I never ended up carrying them very often (unless I had a good reason) and have got used to smaller EDC’s so don’t use them all that often. I was eying up a Meatcrafter for deer processing whilst away but found it hard to justify the expense vs a Victorinox boning knife and aftermarket kydex sheath.

Does anyone know where I could get some stone washed titanium scales for my benchmade grip, it’s the full size flavour? Flytanium used to do some nice titanium scales for the grip but think these are discontinued.

I’ve had a couple of Benchmade knives in the past,all sold off when I had a modern factory knife purge about 4 years ago.
I was always impressed with the design and build quality,I keep getting tempted by a Bugout,it’s just the fact that carrying one here is so restricted that keeps me from pulling the trigger

Benchmade was my introduction to quality large frame folders with the AFCK model and I collected them for a while, my favourites being my left and right handed Emerson CQC975 knives

You will only ever get the Spyderco thing when you actually have one in hand and use it - the Delica would be a good place to start as the ergos are superb, or Ganzo do a very good cheaper homage if you fancy trying one out (other colours are available).

I owned a Bailout for a while then sold it.
Nothing wrong with it in particular but didn’t really like the locking mechanism being dependent on the really fragile omega springs. The price of the more premium material Benchmades has gotten out of control lately too.
I much prefer Buck, Spyderco and Coldsteel for my lock knives.

I wouldn’t worry about the springs, mine is years old and has originals with no issues. The springs do look fragile but are only there to push the lock bar forward, compare them to a Parker style pen ball point pen, have you ever seen these springs break? I know coils vs … but all the same.
