Bell target springers, what you got?

My Lad made his target out of a 15kg gas cylinder he chopped a hole in the side with a grinder hung a tin flask in fishing line through the gas valve hole two wing nuts to fasten the bit he cut out back on the cylinder with two small plate pop riveted back on the cylinder. he wants me to turn up a round plate from some 8mm plate leaving lathe mark groves in incriments to the centre hole. he intends to bracket this to the side of the cylinder he got the sizes for the disk off facebook some where we need a bell the fire bell and hinge idea is good and would work on the cylinder. i like the 15kg cylinder idea its free strong and durable. . any other ideas for a target box set up. ?
you have a picture of said creation sounds great
We hang a small key chain light in ours so we can shoot after dark works a treat the kids love it

No not at the moment but i promise i will, he is just using it as is at the moment i am going to turn up this 8mm steel plate disk, not sure the sizes but i got a lathe can turn 15 inch so should be enough swing with the gap out needs four brackets making to fasten it to the hole he ground in the front of the cylinder, a proper bell of some kind swinging it through the gas valve screw hole is a bodge with a nail, needs a bolt finding drill a hole up the bolt a adjacent hole running across it to pin the bell wire it wants hanging on bike brake cable wire or just decent wire even 2.4 gas welding rod or brazing brass will do it fine.
What lime wash should we use to paint up the disk face ? Must be something better than lime in this day and age any ideas?

Not tried my hand at bell target yet but this has been refurbished for that purpose if and when I ever get around to it. FWB 300S Junior.

Rare rifle, my wife wanted one but couldn't find one. You've got no excuse living in Lincolnshire for not shooting bell target

Previously posted photos of mine i'll do it again on this thread if it helps folks with ideas

Standard bell target face, attached to a 5mm steel plate, plywood box in free swinging "bell" free swinging striker that is held against the plate with a 1.2kg magnet, which replicates the force needed to activate bell on a competition target, basically stops near misses ringing the bell & making you think your the DBX of bell shooting at hope this helps

This has been a bit of an obsession for me over the last few weeks:

This is version 1 of my 3d printed combined trigger guard & hamster. It needs a bit of refinement- there are a few sharp edges that need sorting but it certainly makes shooting it more comfortable. I’ve also been tinkering with the rail to get the height right and stop things moving around. I think I’m about there with that too.

I fitted a TBT shortstroke kit a month or so ago. I haven’t chrono’d it yet as I wanted to let it settle down. But I should be around the 6ft/lb mark with it. Just a few small tidying up jobs to do and I think I’m done.

View attachment 971519I'll kick it off, HW 80, in a CS500 stock in Beeman rear sight, free floating insert, HW 35, standard stock, Beeman rear sight, free floating insert, both shooting under 7ftlb
My bell box, not really for bell target as such, but a satisfying ding for target work. Internal 6 inch firebell, with a clapper behind the hole. Internal lined with 2mm steel plate to stop shrapnel tearing up the insides.
External, Hardoc face plate fixed to 3mm cover plate, and top and bottom edges protected by angle iron, just in case of any wayward shots.😁😁 solid but portable.

That's our fair ground themed bell target - sits nicely with the fair ground Cadet 😀
The grandchildren love it , I have to confess makes me smile too - we can make the aperture Smaller -- its @ 17 yards - I fill it with water they love to shoot floating Ducks
I love that idea. If you don’t mind I am going to nick it!

that's Champion 💪 carry on mate
That's what so great about this site I have had many tips and ideas - in fact the fire bell inside is from here- loosely located on the treaded eye bolt on a chain so it rings like a church bell when the kids hit it 😀
