Thank you for your comments, all much as I was expecting,

I don't know if any of the above commentators have actual experience, or whether they are just quoting what they would expect to be the effect.

I was thinking in terms of a Co2 gun (as opposed to PCP or springer) which would be a very basic bit of kit anyway. Subtelties such as barrel harmonics would be a minor, or even non-existent factor, and a shift in POI, if consistent, might be compensatable in the same way as windage and elevation.

All in all, an interesting debate :), Thank you.

Here's radical ... why not just buy a 'normal' bipod and fit it to a forend sling mount or rail ?

I have tried one an a springer and it was terrible as the rifle did not move the way it should have moved.

On a lot of PCP and co2 air guns they have thinner barrels so put the weight of the rifle on the barrel where the bipod is won't help with harmonics and accuracy.

You could try it with the rifle you have, put barrel on a thin block of wood for example the back of a dinner chair and fire it and see where your pellets end up .

Well, that is a bit too obvious. However, the gun in question has neither a fore-end sling mount, rail or any way of fitting one. Sorry Shrug tt
I sold a 2250 with hpa conversion and drop block, that fella fitted a barrel mounted bipod against better advice, he soon got round to taking it off🤷‍♂️…..

I did actually try a very cheap version of a barrel mounted bipod years ago, luckily on a very battered old HW 90 and the results were hysterical. Over the years i've tried dozens of "groundbreaking","new to the market" & "cheaper than the rest" bits of kit and most of them have been sh!t but i'm glad i had the experience of trying them out.
