what the deal with barrel lapping? Only heard of it recently…

What’s people’s experience of it?

Cheers

If you’re not convinced it works check sub12s video and many others. It’s needs doing right otherwise you won’t get the results. Do homework on the subject and it’s not rocket science.

I too have tried this technique with a boot lace and some metal polish the barrel was completely transformed into a usable item. As stated by others it's not hard to do just watch a few videos first to get an understanding. Good luck 🍀 my friend one love ❤️ Ali

I’ve polish a few iffy barrels on Turkish and Chinese guns, making them very accurate and less pellet fussy. I tend to use a mop with fine valve paste them autosol.

I spent some time on a HW100 barrel which was a bit tight on the pellets at the breech.

The problem was this:
After the pellets had gone past the breech, they no longer made contact with the rifling in the barrel until they reached the choke. They literally fell through until reaching the choke.
Nevertheless, the rifle was still acceptably accurate. Shrug tt

I lapped the breech area with some fine jewellers grinding paste until the pellets went in more smoothly, and this allowed them to stay in contact with the rifling all the way down the barrel. (y)

It was slow progress to complete the job, but it was worth it. . The accuracy has been markedly improved. Groups are tighter, and the rifle is less fussy about which pellets it prefers.

Look up diy videos. This is very easy, and you don’t need to buy expensive polishing stuff. Don’t go aggressive.

Only done it on 2 Chinese barrels, worked well and worth trying before scrapping the barrel.

NEVER DO IT ON A GOOD BARREL
