Barrel Cleaning opinions

Was wondering the other day so thought if you don,t know ask what are peoples general rule of thumb on barrel cleaning with pull throughs as in how often do you do it? I guess i,m over doing it but generally when trying new pellets or re zeroing guess i do it every 1000 or so of shots. Clean with the Power pull through kit just got a feeling i,m doing too regular opinions welcome hence the post

I had a bad experience cleaning a barrel, I'll only touch it if something is obviously wrong.

I only clean my airgun barrels If I notice a drop in accuracy. And because all airgun barrels are different, some barrels may prefer to be cleaned after a couple of tins of pellets have been fired off through them whereas another barrel may not benefit from a clean. It's all a case of trial and error

Ps : Talk to any professional target shooter who enters competitions and are dedicated to winning and they will always say that a clean barrel Is better than a dirty one. So there must be some truth in it, right

I clean all of my gun barrels every day even if I haven't used them

If I think the accuracy as gone off I do a quick pull through.
Or when pellet testing etc again a pull through but a couple more times.

Thanks for all the replies seems as though accuracy is the deciding factor so taken on board and will leave be till accuracy takes a dive thanks everybody for your input and views

I still prefer the method of a length of barbed wire attached to an electric drill shoved down the barrel

Clean barrels shoot straighter.
Personally, I don't wait until the accuracy drops off before cleaning them.... why wait.
Mine are cleaned after every session at the airgun club... but that could be as many as 500 shots.

It only takes a couple of minutes, and the accuracy is maintained.

Mine get a clean every tin of pellets, or if I feel they need it.

I have found that after 12 targets ( w sessions at the range) my barrel needs cleaning shooting Jsb shorts, barrel is pretty dirty. Its accuracy drops plenty of 10’s but the drop off in X’s is apparent. So I know clean with pull through once a week. I am shooting Benchrest so any loss of accuracy is bad especially on competition cards.

I clean my barrels once a month and earlier if I start to lose zero.

VFG Pull Through soaked in Walther gun oil.
