What can I use as a cleaning solution to clean springer barrel
Rubbing alcohol / Break disc cleaner spray/ WD40 / methylated spirit/white spirit/ or buy some purpose made stuff.?
And would it be a bad idea to attach the cleaning rod to a drill to give it a spin clean 🤔

I wouldn't spin anything in a drill!

Best option is a pull through. Easy to make one and numerous vids on utube if you need guidance or buy on fleabay or RFD. Nail cleaning swabs work well (fleabay).

A squirt of brake cleaner on the pull through is good for the initial couple of pull throughs (until coming out clean) then a dry one or two. Be careful not to get cleaner on the stock or plastic things - it may strip the finish / cause damage.

Air Arms manuals say white spirit.
Pull a dampened patches through, enough to come out clean, taking care no excess solvent can enter the transfer port. Then a couple of dry patches. If the gun isn't going to be used for a while, I'll pull through a patch dampened with VP90 to finish.

You could use WD40, White spirit or Methylated spirit. You don't need to buy a specialist product unless you want to.
But a pull through with cleaning patches is perhaps better than a cleaning rod.
You can make a pull through out of a lenght of strong fishing line or similar with a loop in one end to put the cleaning patches in.
That's what i use and for cleaning patches i use nail varnish wipes which are dirt cheap to buy on sites such as ebay and are just the right size.
Use the patches in conjunction with your cleaning fluid until they come out clean then finish off with a dry patch or two to remove any traces of the cleaning fluid of which ever type you've decided to use.
Just apply enough cleaning fluid to first patches to moisten them, you don't need them drippin in the fluid.

Keep drills well away ! Unless new & full of gunk , not much need to clean a barrel. If needed, just a pull through patch & a bit of ballistol or similar.

its funny people saying to be careful with barrels , Iv had really tight shoddy patches in barrels , tight chokes , breaches etc and Iv at the end of my patience attacked them with bore mops in drills with grinding pastes!!! most of the time no change , you have to really really go at them hard fast and long to make any difference 🤷

They're your barrels, fettle/ clean/ abuse/ or whatever, at your whim....

Lighter fluid on a pull through patches for a new ‘gunked’ barrel, followed by dry patches until coming out clean.. I always do this with the barrel off the action and any breach seal removed

You mean they didn.t shoot straight before ,either ?

Pull through with some patches with a dedicated gun cleaner, it's not like gun cleaner is expensive and it is made for the job so why flood it with meths/chip fat/pork pies or any other bobbins..

All the stuff to last you, quite literally years will cost you less than a tin of pellets

I use a pull through with carb cleaner/brake cleaner , then some dry clean patches, works for me (y)

Napier pull through kit. I’ve had mine five years. It’s not cheap but lasts ages and additional patches are peanuts £3 for 100.

@Frog fair enough. 900 would see me to the end of my days. I’ve got 8 guns plus one I don’t shoot. I cleaned the barrels on each when I first got them and then some I’ve cleaned a few times, some I haven’t touched.

If I got nail wipes I feel my wife and daughter would use them quicker that I would. 🤣

Napier shotgun cleaner if you want a clean barrel. That Napier airgun dedicated stuff in the red tin is very poor in comparison.
