Went to Springfield to do HFT competition 12/04/2025 only to be told your BANNED. This is not my club so all rules not know. On the last competition when packing stuff into car I banged my boots in the car park. I now know that this is not allowed and resulted in a ban for life. Not even a warning to say it’s not allowed so next time you do it you will be banned. Best part I spent a few hours cooking cakes as this was a charity shoot to raise a bit of money for the wife of a liked shooter who was to pick a charity for all proceeds to go to. I couldn’t even get to explain why I did what I did, the club on instruction from owner of land got to do his dirty work for him. Not even sticking up for shooters who go to competitions by telling him I am new to all this and didn’t know.
I now know next time I won’t put myself out if there is an event like this on again. You might just get shitted on by them

Sure you didnt give them food poisoning that might deserve a ban?? ;) As it stands sounds pretty harsh and unfair.

Jeezus ... do they ban you if you fart without prior written permission too Homer face palm

Sounds petty but (you knew that was coming) it sounds like it’s not the clubs decision. So clubs range safety and policies are irrelevant
If a land owner wishes to ban someone they can, if they tell the club “Joe” is banned then “Joe” is banned. There’s not a lot a club can do about it, unless they want to pee off the land owner.
Shame though ruined a guys day out on a charity shoot.
Oh and I’m not a member (currently) of any clubs, I go by Groucho Marx advice.

That really is ridiculous. Not a place I would want to go to tbh .Talk about knocking a tack in with a sledge hammer !

I knew someone who was unfairly banned from 'something' once, the club had a terrible ongoing problem with giant unexplained turds randomly appearing in awkward places... The 'club' was pretty sure they knew who it was, right up until it happened while the main suspect was on a stag with two people from the club hundreds of miles away 🤣 Oddly, after a change in those involved in running things, it just stopped. America has crop circles, Northumberland has dirty protests :D

Or was it that the turds were a better shot ?

Assume you were just giving them their mud back. Otherwise you’d have been banned for theft.

I don’t blame club. But thought they would stick up for new shooters

I go to a local club at Borthwood on isle of wight and they are very friendly and have brilliant facilities. Prior to that I attended another shooting club with a view to joining. A rather rude senior member made my self and two new joiners wear a fluorescent bib, he made it quite clear we werent all that welcome. For me the final straw was when putting my rifle away I cleared the breach and walked over to where my gun bag was with thw barrel broken open to be told "no you must put your gun case on the shooting bench and put the gun inside on the bench" he had been hovering for twenty minutes looking for some thing to pick one of us up on. I pointed out that my slim plastic gun slip would be likely to stop a pellet if i hadnt checked my rifle prior to leaving the fire point ( their rules their club )and I left. As I left there was a third new member arriving a attractive young lady no safety hi viz required !!! It was some years ago but it stuck in my head . The club at Borthwood couldnt be more helpful and friendly ,the previous club was the polar opposite and had a member at least who liked to be awkward and probably only got to be in charge of any thing at the club . Oddly enough I met the two other new hi viz members a few months later and both said after being ignored for a few hours they had left never to return !
