Badass Valdada…

So I've had a look at the Javelin. My concern is it only parallaxes down to 25m. The bigger 10-50 stryker go down to 10m. I can't help but feel that makes it a more usable scope? Am I missing something?
FFP vs SFP as well, it depends what you want, the bigger delta is more what I would call a “static” target scope, the javelin or Stryker are more reactive target / hunting scopes

I thought that was the case, which is why I was expecting them to parallax to shorter distances. Is that generally a function of first v second focal, or just a coincidence?

I like to do... precision plinking I'd call it. Ans often dot things about the garden at different distances and was hoping these x30 Delta would fit the bill.

It’s more that they’re not designed for airgun ranges to be honest!
The big delta is also aimed at FT shooters though which is why it parallax’s closer.

That said, there could be some technical reasons why, but something like the falcon s40i is a high mag FFP that focuses down to 10y

Also don’t forget that the parallax effect is much higher at higher mags due to the shallower depth of field.
I can happily shoot my athlons at 10y, just on lower mags.

likewise I shoot my sub12 at random distances from 10-100y and I do that with everything from an old 3-9x, 14x50, the element helix ffp is good but a bit wanting at 100y (I know people who shoot them on rimfire out to 300y) and I’ll soon be trying out the falcon 40i

Like everything there are just so many options to chose from and so much is personal preference. I’ve lost count of the number of scopes I’ve had to buy to try and then sell on 🤣

There is so much I don't know ans everyday I find there's even more I don't know 😅

I'm looking at the Falcon s40 and also the Arken EP5 Gen2.

Still haven’t had chance to shoot it though 🙄

So I bought a Vector Optics Continental x6 5-30x56 and a Falcon S40i+ 4-40x58i FFP. Both have quite nice glass. The Falcon snaps in and out of focus better than the Continental, but the Continental has better definition... or maybe focus's better (both at 35m) - either way it's a clearer picture, but neither are exactly scratching the itch. I've pulled the trigger on Javelin x30 and I'll compare all three again when they turn up.

I keep looking at the Element Optics Theos, but it's a hell of a jump and would require selling a lot of bits. Hoping the Javelin does the job.

I've also got a good deal (I felt) on a Caldwell Precision Turret Shooting Rest from here -

Which I'm really liking, and suits my needs perfectly - I wouldn't wnt to lug it around but it's the perfet height height for my garden table with my garden chairs. I've just got to bag it back up for Mrs N. to give me for Christmas :ROFLMAO:

Can you please compare Continental with Javelin?
I'm highly interested in that scope but I can't check it live anywhere. I played a lot with Javelin and already ordered one for myself.
Thanks,
S.
