ATA Airborne .177

I had a gander at one in the local Rfd.
Impressed, looks a solid workhorse type gun.
Cheaper than an old Rapid block...lol
Someone I know has had one in .22 for some time with zero issues and really rates it for build, accuracy and price point.

Tempted by one of these, look a real tank 💪

I think it has potential, works fine as is, but I feel there should be some personal 'takes' on the platform.
The wrap-around-bottle front end might limit some bottle options but a smaller carbon bottle and shorter barrel version could work.
I love that billet action but it would limit the lower weight goals.

I pretty much only shoot off a rest now, so size and weight aren't a concern, how are you finding the accuracy?
Do the mags cycle nicely and any provision for single shot loading?

The accuracy seems limited by me, not the gun but my test 'range' is about 33yards from a tripod so not exactly benchrest to 50.
The mag seems fine but I have only had it since Wednesday, so has completed a few days shooting in total.
The mags are deep, I'm pretty sure it would take two normal pellets in one slot so I'd say there needs to be many more users before any real feedback can be made, for me 100% so far.
As the first ones imported were all .22 I think there is very little made for this caliber yet, I've not seen spare mags listed yet, so aftermarket single shot nowhere to be seen (I assume).

--edit--

I just tried loading a pellet by hand, almost possible, the gap is about 19mm so there must be a way, perhaps with a small wooden fork device. Plenty of space and visibility I think possible but fiddly and maybe not from bench without some tool or a propper single loader.

With such a big bottle this rifle could do with .a Huma reg or one as good, it only does 75-95 shots that seems very poor.
Very heavy ay 9pound.

Where do you get those shot count figures? Nothing like my experience.
On the weight I think I might have already mentioned that, in nearly every comment.

a pair of twezers ,i always load my all mags on other guns with them ,small pellets ,sausage fingers ,easy to put a single pellet into the breach

Had a look on DAI w/site thats what they have written about it, are you getting more then, i would expect at least 350 with a bottle that size. (y)

I've only had it a few days and I mainly vermin shoot at the moment, I don't get through many hundreds of shots in a month.
I assume it might be that sort of shot count in FAC, overseas, but I'm sure I've seen 150+ mentioned elsewhere.
I only linked to D.A.I. as I nicked their image, didn't look at the wording.
I always listen to the shot to get some idea how much of the, energy is used and how much wasted, this seems quieter than my Ultra CLX so unless the moderator is some weird technology I can't see it is using that sort of air per shot.
The first ones I don't think were regulated, I think this one is, so maybe that is why the low shot count is listed, I just can't see it myself.

I bought one of these in December 2021- in 22 as that's all there was.
Quite liked it- but heck it was loooong and Heavy.
Very accurate and easy to get the trigger just so. (a bit of mild dismantling is needed...)
After a few months I traded it back to the RFD I bought it from and bought something more suitable.

But I still admire them. I would like one with a shorter barrel and smaller lighter air bottle (not the fire extinguisher thing!) in 177 and regged.

But we can all dream unless someone knows better?

I think the action will limit how much weight can be saved by a short barrel and bottle, it's never going to be an Ultra but a decent 380cc carbon fibre bottle and the barrel trimmed back to suit would leave it less front heavy but still a brick.
I think it has certain uses, but walking any distance around a perm, to use freehand is perhaps not its strength.

That wood looks very nice. Are you happy with them?

Yes, far more than I expected to be. Real value for money.
I do need to give it some oil as it got a bit wet last night and I can feel the grain lifted a little.
