Recently picked up a m16 gen2 from vector air and managed to get it for less than £400, I'm shocked how good this rifle is for the money once fettled.

Set the reg to 75 bar polished hammer, reduced hammer spring and the other thing you need to do and set to 11.2 and its got a big shot count and could be the quietest pcp ive heard now ive stuck a different mod on and put felt down the shroud and covered the holes up and makes my hugget shrouded airwolf sound loud!

The trigger is also really nice when adjusted and it also has a titanium cylinder.

This rifle has got to be the best rifle for the cash you can get? Ive had a lot of krals and reximex but none have felt the same quality or had a shot string/consistency as good?

Does anyone else appreciate these gems?

I have the M16D. Now maybe 5 years old. One major hiatus when the EV valve area disintegrated but fettled and tweaked is now a very good gun. Beware that spares can be hard to get.

Yes thats what puts me off snowpeak a bit but ive seen the Americans use them for years at full power with only needing exhaust valves which ive seen you can get so hopefully should be okay.

The gen2 has done away with the conical ev spring now too it seems a better set up.

Yes, that conical spring was the culprit in my gun's failure. Totally unnecessary. It disintegated and a shard damaged the EV valve surface. Spares could be traced, but stupidly expensive, and no-one would actually go through the sales process EU rules, funny currencies etc.
I ended up with springs that were the "nearest equivalent", and a friend with a mini lathe helped me reface the valve. The stripdown is not hard, and there is a basic book about the gun- which is a rebadged Diana Outlaw.
I put the figures of my successful rebuild on an earlier thread, which immediately disappeared without trace. Little interest.

Yes I feel mine will have the same fait as its just a Chinese mid row rifle but after having a lot of rifles this to me has a lot of points that make it unreal for the cash.

As you say the strip down is really easy and I was impressed with the machining and all the threads.

I’m tinkering with an M40 at the minute, on the whole the machining is good. The finish is a little thin in places and was marked from new, but value for money is very good.

Wish it had the reg guage that the M16 has, it would make life a little easier.

Mine doesn't have a reg guage but has a m8 blanking plug so you can screw one in although I didn't have it when I initially set it up I simply set power at 80bar fill pressure then adjusted the reg until it was similar then fine tuned.

When I put the gauge on the reg and saw it was only just above 70 I was shocked it allowed me to go so low.

I had an m16 a few years ago and only sold it as I couldn’t get parts from SMK, but a good mate has an M22 fetish at the moment and it is shooting quite well, he’s even bought the another calibre now as he’s smitten

Enjoy

From above--75 on the reg is quite a common value for .177 with a large transfer port.
I was not impressed with my M16 mags. One was rubbish (Hole in wrong place) and the other sterted to misbehave- it's a fairly complex mag depending on a tiny plastia escapement mech that has to be held precisely and not wear.
But the CARM mags are a good substitute and give 15 shots. No probs there.

I've owned one for around 5 years once the regulator, exhaust valve, the hammer spring are fettled tuned etc they are a great performer, very consistent, accurate, and a decent trigger unit, the one I own is in .22 and the shot count is fantastic around 140 shots at 11.3ftb with a 200bar fill and they can be filled to 250bar this one has been 100% reliable in the last 5 years, they are a brilliant rifle for the money I've not come across any other buget pcp's in the same league.

Full agree ive had a lot of turk stuff and a few budget pcps from gamo etc but this one actually holds its own against high end rifles in every way, the only thing I would change is the stock has cheap checkering and a not too nice blode lacquer.
