Applying CCL Oil

Just curious what the best way to apply CCL to a walnut stock? Do you use a lint free cloth or simply rub it in with your fingers? Thanks

Always been a big fan of fingers & heel of hand, to apply, spread & burnish in...fingers won't spontaneously combust either.

Local RFD advised me just to apply a couple of light dots of CCL to each side of the stock. Rub in and the dab off excess with kitchen towel.

Then, as above, rub in well with the heel of your hand. Repeat, as necessary.

It's not bad...just a drop at a time, on a fingertip, cover all you can with that drop & another drop & then another... It'll be a multi day, multi application process.

Rub it to create a little heat. Remember the rule on stock finishing.
1 x a day for a week
1 x a week for a month
1 x a month for a year
1 x a year for life

It wasn't totally a joke, I did getting a gloss finish on my sons R10 stock....with the ccl the longer & harder you rub it you can get any finish from Matt to gloss, great stuff ,& a little goes a long way, I refinished 4 stocks from one small bottle.

I have done two stocks by rubbing in by hand and after enough time they start to get a sheen as desired. This would be my preferred method now and the added heat helps push in the oils I believe.
