Next year I want a folding rucksack rifle to be taken down the fields for rabbiting.

If you didn't have to worry about price, which would you choose and why?

AP900, cheapest price, enough money to pay to have it tinkered and money left over to buy more.

Brocock Ranger XR, British company, smallest air tube so easiest to pump up.

Katran Sub Compact.

Thanks in advance.

Had a Katran when they come out, had various niggles with it and personally I didn’t rate the quality given the price.

Mags, cocking link, leaks and power issues were all unfortunately issues for me.

Brought an AP900 weeks back and it’s better in quality in many ways. Yes it’s needed a fettle but a third of the price AFTER a fettle just made me dislike that Katran even more!

You don’t need to spend top money for an accurate hunting tool.

I think the ap900 is kicking the arse of the compact folding market. Looking forward to mine arriving. I wonder how many folk are buying snowpeak for the first time and realising Chinese guns are incredible value? This will be my 5th Snowpeak ownership, one I’ve had for over 8years without issue.

Have a SC in .22 for ferel pigeon's and its been a pleasure to shoot so far.
Build quality is as expected from the Czech Republic & it's super light, compact & most importantly accurate.
Sadly im loosing my perms at the end of February so it'll probably get moved on,which will be a tough call as its such a nice gun to shoot.

Unless you've had/shot all 3 I don't really think you can say so I wont vote I've had a Katran C and have the AP900, but never handled the Ranger.

Sold the .177 Katran and bought the AP900 in .22 and a Zulus LRF with the change. For a ratting/squirrel gun I'm more than happy and don't miss the Katran for that. I don't feel like the AP900 is £800 pound less of a gun, but money was no object in the OP.

I owned a BRK Ranger XR .22 for a few years and loved it but sold in the end (for a horribly low price) to raise money towards a Ghost. Absolutely no regrets with the Ghost and will be keeping it. When a new kidney regenerates, I will probably sell that too and buy a Pathfinder in .177

I've got a Brocock Pathfinder XR in .177 - very small, neat and compact, fits easily into a rucksack, is reliable, accurate and easy to handle. The only thing that is disappointing about it is the outrageous cost of the magazines it takes. Definitely worth considering.

I voted for the airmaks funny thing is if I was in the market I'd be going for the ap900 🤣

But that would be for a project/cheap woods walker.

Looking at the list from which is the best standpoint the airmaks wins hands down imo and the CZ barrel is literally 👌💪

Barrels mean nothing if the rest is 💩

You say that but as long as the power plant is consistent and the pellets aren't damaged in the loading process, it literally boils down to the barrel.

I had (shan't mention the brand) possibly the worst contraption ever to be stamped with a serial number and pressurised with air.

Loose as a goose, sharp af edges, shocking anodising, the worst magazines ever conceived and the inside looked like it was machined by a chimp with a black and decker drill 🤣 Basically scrap bodged together and branded........

Yet because of the barrel it was a lazer beam, I couldn't gel with it because it was simply disgusting however that pos was a real testament to how good the CZ barrels actually are.
