Find it a pain measuring ID of orings and quite often it takes a couple of goes to order right size. Anyone tried one of these? Or any alternatives out there?
Thanks

i made my own cones but i only use them to ensure the ring is round when measuring them

Measuring accurately a material which is liable to shape distortion is like measuring the length of an eel. O rings have a shore specification which helps by the higher the number the more ridged it is to physically measure, lower number is of coarse reverse. What about the temperature when it is measured, ideal experiment would be to pop it into the freezer for an hour prior to measuring? Would it add enough stiffness to use a calliper accurately? Please note this an open to ideas comment.

You can download the 3d model of that for free if you have a 3d printer.
