I used to have one of these in the 1990s in .22 but ended up selling it. I’ve been thinking of maybe getting the current version in .177 but I’m a bit concerned the shot cycle might be too ‘abrupt’ shall we say.
Is anyone using the current model in .177 ?
If so, I’d love to hear your thoughts.
Thanks

Hi,
I have owned the 90 in both the 2 usual suspect calibres, and my preference is for the .22 flavour by a country mile, the .177 version just seemed to be a lot more pellet fussy and hold sensitive.
It baffles me as to why the Elite trigger is so marmite to a lot of shooters, as both mine have been exceptional straight from the factory.
The 90 is a great rifle, unless you are humping it around the countryside all day, in which case there are far better alternatives.

I had a go with a mates new HW90 just yesterday and I was blown away by it.
I recently bought a HW95 in .20 and now wish I had gone for the 90 instead.
Nothing to do to it out the box to get rid of a springers twang and it really does shoot well.
I shot it at 30 yards (shooting H&N pellets at 11.9Fpe) and the groups were tight.
I'm now thinking of getting one in .20 but it will be a 16 to 20 week special order wait.

Sorry if this is slightly off topic but does anyone know the outside barrel diameter of the 90 ? as when I looked it up I found somewhere stating it was 15mm, but the guy who owns the rifle had bought a slip over the barrel mod for it in 15mm and it won't go on ?
He is going to buy a set of calibers to measure but I thought I'd ask here first for him.

Thanks - food for thought!
BTW I believe that most HW90s will have a 16mm diameter barrel. The barrels are interchangeable with the HW80 which is definitely 16mm. Hope that helps. Google says...
  • Barrel Diameter: The barrel diameter for a Weihrauch airgun blank is generally 16mm. The HW90K model may have a different diameter depending on the specific model and its accessories.

11.9 is a bit close 😬. How easy are these to turn down if needed?

Its a doddle, just remove the screw at the end of the cylinder and lightly tap the end of the schrader valve to release air until you hit the desired fpe.
Yeah that sounds easy enough. Have a 77k laminate that I'd been considering a PX for a 90

Very easy. It's just like letting air out of a tyre.
He tuned it to the pellets he uses and the consistency is excellent.
He showed me it over the chronograph and shot it 20 times with a deviation of just 2?!!
I'm getting one.
