Wondering if anyone can help with what is probably a simple fix that has evaded me and my brother .Dohh!
81 year old mother has a oldish TV ( non Smart TV) in bedroom that worked fine until she removed and binned the DVD box thing that was connected to the TV (It broke).

Now the TV is connected to a coaxial cable and Ariel that is known to work just fine and obviously another cable to the wall socket for power.
TV keeps saying no signal so can’t pick any channels up.
I’m thinking a free view box connected to the TV might sort it but not sure ?
Any ideas ?
Thanks.

How old is the tv?
If the tv is old it may not have a digital tuner in it.
The DVD box was newer and did probably have a digital tuner in it and I bet the coaxial cable from the antenna went into the DVD box first( the DVD box would then decode the digital signal) and then into the back of the tv via a SCART or hdmi lead.

If the TV is modern enough to be able to receive & decode digital signals then do as Dave says above as a start.
If it's a pre-digital era TV then something like a Freeview decoder is probably the way to go, you can pick one up from Asda/Tesco etc and try it, if it works job done otherwise take it back & buy your Mum a shiny new digital TV from Asda/Tesco etc :)

As above,;) in the settings find the auto tuning, next step in should offer digital or analogue
Maybe both, pick digital. ;) Al

Thanks for all the answers .
Done all the usual tuning in business and but it won’t tune in as it has no signal .
As Maz says the DVD box was allowing it to receive a signal so I’m thinking of buying a free view box or similar to hopefully allow it to receive a signal.
I’m just checking this is the issue before wasting any more money . (y)
