Decided to do a complete strip down and service on my Theoben Rapid mk2. What is the easiest way to remove the anti tamper cap? Clearly its hardened steel, if i need to drill it what drill bits are recommended that won't break the bank?

If your going to remove the AT you can tap it around carefully with a centre punch to remove or drill the centre to a suitable size to tap a small torx bit into it or a hex bit . Take out and then split the cap off .
I don’t think the caps are hardened steel..a normal decent quality HSS drill bit should do the job(dormer for example).
Or try using a reverse helix drill bit . It may well bite and remove the cap as you are drilling in reverse. Just make sure the block is supported properly (clamped up) and everything is steady. Last thing you want is the bit skidding off and damaging you or worse the block😁👍

Success! Tried a few of the suggestions, magnet, tapping it round etc, unfortunately no joy. So decided to drill. The only drill bits that worked that I had were masonry. 2mm first then 4mm. Heated up the cap with a hot air gun and tapped in a torx bit. (Thanks Vard for the ideal) Impact driver in reverse and out it came. Still had to use a flat head screwdriver to prise the anti tamper off the head of the screw cap, on very tight.

This was for a mk2 rapid. The anti tamper is a tight push fit that grips the end of the screw cap. The screw cap takes a 5mm allen key.

I'm sure there are more elegant ways of doing this but it worked for me. Thanks for all your suggestions.
