Hi Guys,

My Anschutz scope recently came from Hill's & I have to say my first impressions are very good. Its packaged very well (sealed plastic bag was a nice touch), everything twiddles & turns very positively & it is very robust.

I bought it for ratting, to be used in combination with a PARD NV007 add on. The AO front ring markings go down to 15 ft (4.6M), but in reality, it actually focus's down to a smidge under 4.0M.....perfect when rats get a bit too brave. The glass is very clear with no distortions, image fade, etc....my photo's don't do it justice.

It's a chinese made scope (as most now are), seems very well made & I think Hill & Anschutz are on to a winner. This is effectively the base model & based upon the quality I will no doubt look at others from the range. I can see these competing with the likes of Hawke, MTC, Bushnell, etc

Next step, to mount & zero the scope ready for a bit of Roland bashing.....I will report back again once I have had the opportunity to do a field test.

Apologies for the image quality, I don't think Pirelli will be calling me based upon my camera skills (although I'd be happy just being the sunscreen applicator on such a prestigious shoot).

The whole imported range can be seen & bought via Hill's excellent website.

Have a great weekend all,

Cheers,

Matt W :)

Only recently became aware that Hills sold things other than compressors and stirrup pumps and was having a gander at the Anschutz scopes on their website. At the prices, I assumed the scopes would be from China but Anschutz and Hills must have confidence in the manufacturer to be associated with them.
The scope looks robust from the photos and the turret housing is a bit different to many.
Looking forward to your next post after you've had chance to use the scope.

Chinese made products are a fact of life, with Leupold, Burris, Bushnell, Hawker, MTC, Discovery, Tasco, BSA, Nikki all selling products made there.

There are good & bad products made in all different countries so I'm not going to generalise.

I travelled around China for 2 months in 1999 & had a ball, the people I met were without question very kind & generous to me.....whilst in most cases had very little themselves.

For you guys in the USA, you typically export $160 Billion to China & import around $300 Billion from them.

That's a pretty significant trading relationship right there. Spoil that & it would cause more than a ripple in world economics.

My review will be exactly as I see it, if something niggles me I will state it, if I like a feature or design I will also advise accordingly.

Watch out for part 2.

Cheers,

Matt W :)
