Hiya gang quick shout out to the gurus, anyone had a S510 TR apart?
Full charge of 250 Bar
Finally put it across the chrono and with Bis mags and Air Arms field .177 power was between 9 and 9.9 Ft/Lbs
Aha I'll adjust the transfer port screw thinks I, cut a slot with the Dremel into the AT shear cap and screwed out restrictor fully before the grub disengages power is a maximum of 10.4 Ft/Lb

Question is, is the reg an AirArms item or an aftermaket (Lanes??) anyone adjusted theirs/ on before??
If so a pm would be much appreciated would like to get into the 11 range by strangling back with the restrictor👍

It might not be the adjustment that’s the issue Johnny. The port restrict adjustment screw has a limited effect unless you screw it’s right in.

I’ve posted a few times about the Air Arms regs and the associated issues.

Try checking the power at different fill levels. It may be a case that the sealing face has failed and your open reg to the firing valve. If the power rises as the cylinder pressure gets lower then it’s a reg issue and a good chance it’s the sealing face.

Had the same issue with my S510R. As @Blackmax said the adjustment screw has minimal effect, and if wound out too far, ie past the face of the transfer port, it creates dead space for the air to fill. My problem was indeed the reg. I tested the power and it was increasing as the fill levels were dropping. Inside the reg there is a plastic mushroom shaped piston, which i think @Blackmax means by the sealing face. This was actually split. I decided to switch it out for a Huma reg. Straight forward replacement, one in one out.
I do love the gun, but the power adjustment screw serves very little purpose, and will forever and a day move at will. Probably not the best idea in the world but i have now put a bit of loctite on it and threaded it in to fit flush with the side wall of the transfer port. This gives the optimal opening, without giving dead space. I now have all the adjustment i need in the Huma reg.
I really do not rate the AA reg.

Cheers bud still running down and monitoring and we it drops. Down to 190 bar now but still consistent 10.9🤔

Hi mate, your observations mirror exactly what I’ve found on a number of occasions.

The ‘mushroom’ as you describe it is the sealing face as you thought, it’s made of machined Peak which is a very hard engineering material. I have a feeling this wears the brass and when the mushroom becomes sloppy the air leaks past and into the prechamber. Your right, it’s a poor design and the Huma is a viable option as a replacement, I believe Lane now does one too.

If you need to lock off the port grubscrew then I’ve found blue Loctite the best and it also seals it too.

Yes, i used the blue loctite, but in the back of my mind i was thinking the grub screw doesn't take much to round out. However i'm not planning on passing it on anytime soon. Glad to do away with the AA reg. Don't know if this is a wider issue, but imo the AA reg is its achilles heal, on an otherwise great piece of kit. I only came to those conclusions out of necessity, because i found it was hard to get someone to service it, so did it myself. I assume its because of the reg set up and trying to get it at the right power level.

You're right, it is a weakness, for a number of reasons. Biggest issue in my view is the sealing face.

If yours is 177 I found the best reg setting around 95/96 bar.
