Air powered blowgun taboo?

People have been charged for importing them . Yes it was 20 years ago but it still happens now .

Just read that, why did he "have it to his lips" in a carpark? and throwing into the back of his car when the police arrived. Definitely upto something.

Perhaps he was playing it like a didgeridoo. 😄

Or showing how it works , some people will demonstrate things even though the other person may understand what they are saying.

Like people who use their hands when giving directions .

Quote.

We tend to use hand gestures most when giving directions or instructions. If you have trouble finding the right words to get your message across, you are more likely to use hand gestures more than others.

He may have been doing similar and putting it to his mouth t show how it worked.

Yes , in this case he MAY have been upto something but we and the court were not there so you have to give them the benefit of doubt.

Pea shooters are not illegal .

Blowguns and blowpipes are not pea shooters.

The charge levelled at the fella in the news article was relating to a public place. You'd get similar attention for brandishing an air weapon about in the same situation.
The OP was asking if a mechanical system, similar to an air bow is legal in UK.
I'm thinking that it's dodgy ground.

So what is you definition of a blow gun? The law is very clear and a child's pea shooter is exactly as the law describes a blow gun.

Ask the Home Office. They are the ones that make the rules.

If pea shooters are not legal then there is lots of people admitting to carrying out an illegal activity every year by having their mugshots displayed on their websites and Facebook.

You stated that pea shooters are legal. How do you know? 🤷‍♂️
I stated that a pea shooter falls fairly and squarely under the description in section 5.
What defines the difference between the two, length, calibre, intent?

There has been links posted to pea shooting competitions. If it was not legal would these people be taking part in it and publically posting it ?

It would be a easy catch as they even advertise when they are going to be doing it too 🙄

Here it is again

As for legalities, you can contact the above and ask them. They will have checked it out.

They say this in their rules .

The Peashooter must not exceed 12 inches in length.[6]

Even the media is reporting on it .

@Bighit, I've done some digging and a pea shooter is mentioned in Parliaments offensive weapons bill 2017-2019 and I would think that anyone using a pea shooter is 100% on dodgy ground.

That is some ones submission to the offensive weapons ban 2019.

Written evidence submitted by Adrian Hale, Honorary Treasurer, Blackpool & Fylde Fullbore Pistol & Rifle Club (OWB83)

That is his opinion .

I'm not happy with that being genuine. There are two spelling errors just in the highlighted bit. I don't think that's from a governmental document.

Fair comment, but within the guidelines of the law can you differentiate between a blowgun and a peashooter? I know I can't.
Something to do with size (peas shooter only allowed to be 12" or less? (definition of a rifle Vs pistol)?
