I don't know if this is available, ive googled it and cant find anything, but if it hasn't and someone acts on it I want recognition lol 😆

After seeing my mates digital scope yesterday it got me thinking....

If technology is that good now , why hasn't anyone figured out how to make a scope that incorporates AI and virtual reality so you can mount it on YOUR OWN rifle and it allows you to virtual Hunt or virtual target practice without leaving the comfort of your own home ?
Either to hone your skills or maybe you dont get the chance to go out to perms ???
I know the tech is there to start recording off the recoil of the rifle so maybe you could have virtual competitions too ??.

You could look thru the scope and see virtual targets or virtual quarry in realism 4k and use your own gun to shoot them. ?

Like I said i dont know if this tech is out there already , but its an idea ?

I work in this field and what you're talking about is a remarkably difficult and costly set of problems to solve, not to mention a safety minefield of biblical proportions!

It's more cosy effective to go at it from the other side; simulating a firearm is much more doable through a custom rig which jolts in a dynamic / programmable way. There's already a pretty thriving community for the VR title Hotdogs Horseshoes and Handgrenades which shows that interactions with various guns can be reasonably accurately simulated (it's a really fun sandbox in its own right to, highly recommend!)

Interesting topic!

So it hasn't been done yet ??
Many thanks for the explanation too. Suppose we will have to wait for the technology to become cheaper and more accessible 👍

I'd be very surprised if it had! Computer vision spacial tracking is a pretty niche field still and it really suffers from accuracy issues at distance. "Inside-out tracking" needs multiple cameras or LiDAR to get a good sense of depth and distance is it's enemy, or you can precalculate a space and do "outside-in tracking" which is potentially a solve but much more up front work to position and set up (early VR used this, such as valves lighthouse tracking system)

Iv got cabellas hunting game for the Nintendo switch it is pretty fun you get a little carbine rifle to shoot with

That is exactly why Anthropic fell out with the Fat King of Orange.
