I've had a new LG smart for a few months replacing a previous LG smart TV, the issue with the new TV is that more often than not when turning the TV on, the picture is frozen yet the sound plays, this means that I have to press the button on the TV remote to get it back to the home screen then selecting the SKY input which then syncs it all back to normal, not a long process but a pain as the old TV had no issues, the sky box has been replaced but the issue is still ongoing... Any thoughts?

My tv does a similar thing so I have to press the home button on the sky box remote because the sky box has gone into sleep mode leaving the TV without a signal, maybe give that a try.

thanks for that, but my Sky box is set to stay on and not go into sleep mode.

Any thoughts?
As a suggestion, turn TV on and flick over to sky box etc
BUT, before you switch the TV off, turn the TV over to a normal channel like BBC1, switch off, and back on again.
My Samsung goes straight back to the last source used, in my case a firestick that takes 20 seconds to wake up.
My old Panasonic lets you choose a startup source.
Sorry if I've wasted your time, but this was the way I read your problem
Nick.

Any suggestions are welcomed, but I have tried all sorts so far and it's more miss than hit with a frozen picture with sound as opposed to a normal picture with sound, not too sure if it's a hardware issue and the SKY box and TV not syncing properly ?????

Have you tried linking the Sky box to the TV with an eARC HDMI cable?

eARC has full audio, picture and function control, two ways. It allows all connected devices to communicate equally. On a new TV, one of your HDMI ports will be labelled eARC.
Just to elaborate. We have an LG Smart TV, Sky Puck thing, Free sat hard drive recorder, and a Dali Katch 1 sound bar. I can control virtually all of them with each controller, even the TV remote can operate the Freesat box. As soon as I switch to an input, the TV detects which one it is. The ARC bit means audio return channel, so, sound inputs can go two ways instead of just TV to sound bar. I can watch Sky, Freesat or normal TV and the sound bar gives the audio without having to change the source input.

I'll have a look tomorrow 👍

I bought a new TCL TV for the bedroom a few months ago brilliant TV or the money I would go as far to say its picture is every bit as good as the older but top of the range Samsung in the lounge, and with a fair bit more functionality.

I bought a new TCL TV
Looking at their 50" TV's, they offer 10 - TEN, how the *ell are you supposed to decide on a model. I remember when your choice was the cheap bottom of the range, middle of the range, and the one you couldn't afford, its bad enough trying to select a manufacturer. We really are spoilt for choice on everything in 2025.

No I've not, just the regular HDMI - what's the difference between the regular and the eARC?
eARC and ARC are purely an audio return for feeding audio to an AV receiver or sound bar etc. and likely nothing to do with your issue. Your issue would potentially be solved by enabling CEC control on both the STB and TV to put the box into and bring it out of standby at the same time as the TV. Normally you just use the Sky remote and the box will trigger the TV via CEC, some brands have a non standard name for CEC in the settings menus, Panasonic for example just don’t like using industry standard terms.
