Well I finished work early and going out to the workshop to load up for tomorrow and decided to pick the steyr up for a date.
I put a squirrel feeder out a few weeks ago and had 7 of it all ready , but it’s still being emptied in a week , so I know there’s a few squirrels around still
Haven’t used the steyr for a long time for hunting , still full of air from when I charged it last, probably about 12 months ago ,
Loaded the 10 shot mag , had a shot at the feeder and it was spot on .
Didn’t wait more than a few minutes from the comfort off my truck 2 squirrels turned up , one sat perfect on the feeder and the other on the trunk off the tree.
Bang bang , had both in seconds , then I saw another one in another tree , bang that was number 3
Waited for another 10 minutes before another 2 came , another bang bang and 2 more , going really well 5 in about 15 minutes
Went a bit quiet then , so had a look at the the steyr , I forgot how well made it is , the trigger is superb and so well balanced ,such a lovely gun and a real shame I don’t use it very often.
I saw a squirrel in another tree , so put down the back window and bang that was number 6 , not bad 6 in 45 mins , it’s was another 15 minutes before the next one arrived at the feeder and bang for number 7, not bad for an hour wait .
Went to gather the 5 five squirrels around the feeder , the other 2 was in very long grass and didn’t fancy searching for them with so many ticks around at the moment .
It was really good to use the steyr again , hopefully it won’t be staying in the cabinet for so long again , it was a lovely date
