A pic of 3 rifles I own.

The top one is my HW77 I've owned since new in 1985. I took particularly good care of this gun for many years, the barrel/bluing only started to go on it during the last 10 years, especially after it sat next to a damp wall in a house for a while unused. Missing stock screw but I can easily get a replacement for this gun.

The middle one is my Webley Vulcan (some sort of special / deluxe one apparently) that I bought 2nd hand from a local gunshop in 1989. The gunshop didn't last long. It's a Vulcan for sure but I don't know the version/mark of this rifle, recently lost one of the 2 stock screws that go through the stock into the trigger area. Can anyone help me identify which Vulcan this is and/or tell me what spec of screw I need to buy for it? I don't even know the age of it. I also used to take particularly good care of this gun but I gave it to my son 20 years ago and after he got married he stuck it in his shed where the barrel/bluing started to go.

Both of the above guns have a lot of sentimental value to me, I seriously wouldn't sell or swap either of them unless offerred a ridiculous sum like £10k for one of them and that would never happen so I'll own these guns til I die.

Don't judge me on the bottom one, I recently inherited it after the early death of the missus' sister's husband. I don't even know what gun this is, can anyone identify it? It wasn't even working when it came to me, I got it working (kind of) but it's obviously in very bad condition, stock broken etc, jubilee clip holding the stock on, no sights, etc.

Hi

I think the bottom one is a relum telly.. Held together with jubilee clip and a broken off trigger blade 😁

The HW77 and Vulcan are nice rifles. Both worthy of some TLC. Reblack metal and stock refurbs. Not sure on the exact vulcan model.. Many here will know!

Thanks for the comments.

So we reckon they're a mk2 Vulcan deluxe and a Relum Telly...? Thanks.

I bought the scope on the HW77 shortly after my dad bought me the HW77 around 1985. I caught the train from Moorthorpe station to Mexborough and bought it from a gun shop in Mexborough, again around 1985. I think the gun shop is stil there. I used to know the make/model of scopes etc but I've forgotten, it is a 3-9 x 56 but I don't think it's an Optima Moonlighter though I could be wrong, I'll report back on that next time I've had the gun out. Bought the mounts at the same time from the same shop, they've served well. I remember much liking having the scope but also in a way missing the open sights. The scope only went a few months before an O ring fell out from around the objective lens, but it hardly seemed to effect anything, only thing it did maybe effect was that sometimes if focus seemed to be off I'd have to raise the front of the gun so the lens seated properly. I have been toying with the idea of swapping the scope almost since then and that was 40 years ago.

My go to gun was the HW77 since owning it but I occassionaly took the Vulcan out. I had 2 bad condition Vulcans before this one, one had a broken stock and the end of the barrel was visibly bent upwards. I don't remember if I bought this (pictured) Vulcan with a .177 or .22 or if it came with both .177 and .22 barrels but I know I've swapped calibres on it a few times and the .22 barrel wouldn't be from the broken Vulcan because it was straight. Not sure where that missing .22 barrel is now and I dumped the broken stock but somewhere in the garage there is a disassembled Vulcan main body, piston, spring and trigger assembly, everything except maybe the barrel and stock. This Vulcan is currently fitted with a/the .177 barrel. I rate the Rekord trigger on the HW at least an order of magnitude better than the Vulcan trigger and back in the day it seemed HW's were highly rated in most respects whilst the Vulcan was considered more of an entry level or mediocre gun but it was nice to take it out for a change and still capable of decent accuracy. Gave it to my son when he was old enough to come shooting with me, when he got his own house he took it with him but after he got married it went in his shed and he wasn't using it. I suggested I take it back to keep indoors and look after it but it his still his gun. Bought this Vulcan as a package complete with scope and sling, the sling rotted over the 36 years though.

Other than the HW77 and 3 Vulcans mentioned above I've also owned a new BSA Meteor and a second hand none-descript gun (I didn't know what it was) that might've been a Gamo or Relum, both just with open sights. I gave the Meteor to my dad's uncle who lived in Skegness and had a large garden at the back of his house. The uncle used to own a .22LR and was apparently a good shot back in his day, after retiring he grew veg in the garden but moaned he wished he still had his gun to shoot rabbits that were eating his veg. He later sold the land to a caravan site developer so I thought I'd be getting the Meteor back but he said he'd given it away to someone else.

OMG😱 DA RUST MAN!
HW77
WEBLEY VULCAN
RELUM

I know :-( I explained the rust.

Webley Vulcan - mark?
Relum - what?

@Backgardenplinker has already answered (thanks again) but it would be good to have it confirmed or see what anyone else thinks they are.
Vulcan is a Mk2. Although the safety and trigger should be a gold colour if it's a Deluxe. Any chance that it's standard with a Deluxe stock?

Possibly. The top rear end of the barrel also has/had a brass colour / plate on it, I don't know if that means it was more likely a deluxe?

At least we know it is a mark 2 and the stock is from a deluxe then?

Yep, the stock is definitely a Mk2, and most probably a deluxe, and, if so, Walnut. I cannot speak for the action.

Does anyone know where can I buy new stock screws from for this Vulcan? The one that is missing is the one in front of the trigger.

The Vulcan is a MK2 Deluxe, it has a Walnut stock .
The version with Gold trigger and safety is the Deluxe SE model , it was limited edition version and the stock was the MK1 shape .

Great info thanks.

It's been suggested I try to get stock screws from Chambers or John Nibbs, anywhere else to suggest?

In fact I imagine there's nothing special about these screws, long shot I know but does anyone know the screws specs?

Same for the HW77.

The mod on the Vulcan barrel appears to be period correct Whisperer .

Not a special screw but not common , I think it’s 3/16 “ BSW CS .

BSW... That surprised me, thought they would've gone metric by the time it was made, heh BSW is even older than the later imperial stuff.

Edit - Hang on, I thought BSW had very similar thread sizes to later imperial but BSW measured by the size of the head rather than spec of the thread?
