2nd hand scopes??

Just curious what’s everyone’s opinion on 2nd hand/used scopes and what should i be looking out for

Reason is iv found a nice looking scope on optics warehouse

Can't give any info what to look out for, but I'd presume if from there they would be tested and good.

The beauty of purchasing 2nd hand gear from a retailer is that you are still covered by the 14 day guarantee, so if you don't like what you see when you get it, you can just send it back.
Superb glass also comes up on here in the classifieds regularly.

As above, buy from a trader, you'll be covered if it's no good.

OPW do good S/H stuff. They also provide a 12 month warranty with their second hand and demo stuff.

If it's Vortex or Element it's lifetime anyway....

Ya it’s FAC. It’s going on a 223 bolt action

Most of the scopes on my rifles are second hand. 9 out of 12 of them when I think about it. Nothing wrong with them in principle, or in fact when it comes down to it. The scope on my HW80 has "terrible" crimp marks in it, still works fine....

I picked up a secondhand Orion Pro Max from them last year and can't fault it

If the brand has a lifetime transferable warranty like Leupold then it's a no brainer, save yourself some money vs a new one.
Most scopes are good enough but if it's from a mid to upper level brand then they rarely go wrong and you'll be covered.
I've bought a ton of leupolds off here.

I have brought new and second hand with warranty and with out mostly off here never had a issue on here as I find everyone I have brought off as very knowledgeable honest but may be not the case if you buy private or other sites I have had in the past a RFD sell me rifles and a scope not fit for purpose and had a battle to get my money back
