Hi All
As you might have seen from previous posts I have decided on a Cometa and in the mix is a .25 USC.
Just wondering if the the same quality control applies to this calibre in the better brands, AA, H&N and the like as .177 and .22 ie consistency of weight skirt deformation etc.
Just trying to got as much info as I can before the final decision.
Cheers
Chris.

Have a read of the Cometa Owners Club Thread, just a thought 👍

Cheers mate
Just thinking of .25 pellets in general as after watching BD on YouTube again last night and reading everything I could on here I’m really leaning towards the Cometa .25 over the the Fusion, would love to have both…

@2506sendero has a .25 and I’m sure he uses hnftt and I’m sure he will be along to confirm

I’m a Cometa fan and had planned to get a .25 as I have pcps in that cal, but I’ve shoulder issues that make the short barrels uncomfortable to cock after a few shots so find longer barrels better suited, not sure if Dan can special order .25 fusions ???

I have a HW 80 in .25 and I have found that the better pellets look fine.
Only problem is being sub 12 only the H&N FTT are light enough for optimal performance.
This is what I have found using my gun others may have better suggestions.
Either way H&N are a good accurate pellet.

Same here with my HW80, FTT and Marksman work well as they are light, heavier pellets were just awful.

Because my absolute max range is so short, 25 yards the heavyish pellets are not such an issue, but let’s say down the line I get touched by some devine power and become a competent springer shot, it would obviously be great if it loved Marksman. I can’t remember if I mentioned here or an email to BD but I couldn’t shoot a HW95, 98 (did like the 90) a couple of BSAs even a mk1 Imp that last one is a tad unfair I picked that rifle up with a broken collarbone and even when I heeled up I never gave it a proper go. The only springer I could shoot was TX mk1 30 odd years ago.
Also while reading everything Cometa on here last night and I can’t remember who it was, they were talking about buying replacement main springs. Even BD said the Cometa was easy to work on to replace the spring. I’ve never replaced a spring, are Cometa’s springs no good or is it that because each of my springers were owned for 5 minutes so no replacement required. How many shots is a spring good for?
Lastly, and I don’t know if I’m pushing my luck here as currently I’m asking a lot and contributing nothing but by far my favourite trigger was on the TX, set back ideal for small hands. Is this a simple after market fix on the Cometa?
Cheers
Chris.

My .25's won't group with marksmans, they are a good weight but not much use for anything but can bashing. Others at my local range have found the same.

H&N ftt's are very good, barracudas are also good but heavier, ie they hit lower.

Springs last years & thousands of shots. Most people only change to get a spring that cycles more nicely / is less harsh than the original.

Hello there,
Do you mean less harsh than the Cometa or spring guns in general?

My .25 is the same with Marksman way too many fliers, but really good with the H&N FTT, I have tried Hades which were good but not worth the cost compared to the FTT.

I have no knowledge of Cometa's but a spring should last decades if the rifle is not abused. I have a 40 year old FWB with a factory spring and it shoots just fine.

Some rifles come with springs that while good, may feel harsh, slammy, or twang badly.

This is why so many people "tune" their springers, by fitting a kit such as Welsh Willy or Tinbum or send the rifle off to a renowned tuner to have it sorted.

By tuning think piano tuning not car tuning, it's not about gaining power (UK limit being quite low anyway) but about having a smoother firing gun, the idea being it's nicer to use & more accurate due to less recoil etc

I've not owned a Cometa but there are extensive threads on them on here, well worth a read.

Cheers mate, that was my understanding.

I've found h&n ftt to be very accurate in my .25 striker. It also shoots marksman well. The heavier pellets are ok up to about 20-25 yards but seem to lose stability much further than that due to their weight and low velocity. RWS hollow points being the exception strangely.

I never thought of that, maybe a smaller calibre would future proof the gun, ie when I want to reach 30 yards
Haha. I think by then though and this thought has literally just come to me I could afford a 2nd gun. Maybe that Fusion that BD shoots so well.
Cheers lads.
Chris.
