Hi folks,
I’d like to know if there is an optimum speed for .25 pellets to obtain the best accuracy results. I know that pellet type and weight will affect this to a degree, but is there a speed that I should be aiming to tune the gun to in order to maximise accuracy and consistency?
Would be interesting to hear what you all shoot - gun, pellet, speed, power etc
Cheers

Depends on weight
I run JSB 33.9 gr at 965-970 fps
5 shot groups at 110-115 yards

I use jsb 25.4 grm pellets in .25 fac I have an m3 and a vulcan 2 both rifles perform very well upto around 900 fps higher speeds cause the pellets to spiral and accuracy deteriorates markedly. The pellets decide what speed/power you can accurately shoot at. A friend of mine says the 33.9 grain will take a bit more speed BUT his fx m3 has a slug liner fitted. The 25.4 pellets at 900 fps are producing around 46 ft lb. Which is enough to shoot rabbit's at 100 yds! Its still got 21 ftlb at 100 yd!

Cheers for that Keith.
I’ll be using a drs 500mm so not going to set it up for heavy ammo, OR 100yds.

For least wind drift at 100M JSB Kings about 860-880 fps and King Heavies about 920-930 fps.
I have settled on similar speeds. Kings at 890ftps which also works well for Hades and most other pellets. It is generally my target speed with any tune. The king heavies can take more speed but shoot well at 100 yards for me between 860ftps to 920ftps. Obviously each barrel is different but it is a good starting point.

Thanks for your input 😊

Pellets 900 maybe a little slower , slugs I’m using 50 grain at 942 ish and they perform really well

I have an FX Impact in . 25 and I am using JSB Exact Kings at 25.5 gr. I have experimented and got the firearm producing sub 1” groups at 75 - 100 yds. Speed is 920 fps. Amazingly the sd is around 2.9. As someone else said that speeds around the 900 fps seems to suit that pellet.

I’ll test at numerous speeds to see where I get the tightest groups. Tuning is all part of the fun! 😄
Every barrel & every gun will be different
What suits my gun may not suit yours
I run super heavy liner which is absolutely brilliant for pellets and slugs 👍🏻
