Most air rifles are over priced and not manufactured to the best specification possible, hence the tuning market. Most are turned out in a one fit fits all, in beech. So, at a glance from someone who doesn't like guns, they all look the same and for someone who does like guns they don't look much different.

I love shooting and have three rifles with the standard beech stock and one with the black (rubber type) stock, love them all and when I've finished shooting them they are wiped down and put in their bags.

The limited addition HW50 I have just bought has blue laminate and I think it's gorgeous, that's why I spontaneously bought it when I only went in for pellets. The money was sitting in my account making little interest and I could spare it.

It never crossed my mind that it may be worth more if I ever sold it and I did know it cost more than the standard gun which I would have used, wiped down and put back in it's bag but I like the look of this gun, not only will it give me fun and satisfaction to use, it will please me to look at it when I'm not. It wont be put back in a bag when not in use, it will be where I can see it.

I don't expect it will be worth more when my Grandson sells it after I'm gone and I guess he will exchange it for the first offer made (he is a good shot but he's not really into guns), same with my other guns and expensive watches. Thing is, I wont be around so don't care, I have enough money to buy the guns that I like (I'm not rich) and don't really care what others may think.

So, if you read all of that, thank you, I did go on a bit but I read the whole thread and realised that most people seem to think of limited guns as an investment, I don't and just wanted to explain my take on things. Thank you. :)
My precise thoughts too.... I seem to buy quality things these days mainly of the thought, 'if my son would appreciate it when I'mno longer here' 🫵🏻🐼👍🏻 not rich either but buy wisely...

The price of the upper end of spring guns is ridiculous when you compare them to shotguns and rifles, which have to deal with much greater forces, be proofed, and in the case of shotguns usually have walnut stocks and nice engraving. The cheapest TX200 ‘ultimate springer’ is over £800, all it has is an adjustable comb and cheek piece 😂😂😂

Some Weihrauch break barrels are £600-£700 and chances are the piston seal will be buggered and the action full of swarf 🤦🏻‍♂️

But will still buy em 😂😂😂😂😂

Innit, we’re such mugs 😂

When all’s said and done if you can afford them, want them and enjoy them then crack on. I do object to things that actually don’t work due to a fundamental design flaw, though.

For me, “Limited Edition” probably much more interesting than “Special Edition”
First being more likely to be special and of extra long term value, Second being a way of moving on parts at the back end of a production run.
I own No 21 of 100 Ben Taylor Limited Edition Theoben Rapids, now that really is Limited and very special. Already been offered more than it cost due to rarity.

So my vote is Yes, but wholly depends on what it is.

If they ( limited editions) will spend life in a display case, never to be shot & whose sole purpose in life is possible cause of aggravating " Tennis Elbow" ...knock yourself out, buy a barge load. If they're " shooters" then the extra outlay for one is of dubious value.

I have a Rolex watch (gift) a Tudor watch, Omega and a Lorus watch bought for £30 in Argos. The Lorus is the most accurate to the second and the others cost a lot of money.

Why do I like expensive watches? I'm not sure and I wont be buying any more because I own a few more nice watches not listed and enjoy them all.

I don't show them off and don't wear the Rolex but do wear the Omega every day, for work (when I did) and always, and it still looks good. Why don't I sell the expensive watches and wear the cheap, accurate Lorus all the time? I don't know that either except I just like to have a nice watch on my wrist.

Same with most things I buy including guns, I buy what I like not something I think others will like, it gives me pleasure to own them. A friend of mine collects diecast model aeroplanes, he has a bedroom and a shed full of them, they even spill out into his own bedroom. They are all catalogued and worth a fortune as many are very rare. He had stage four cancer a couple of years ago and I thought he was going to die but through all of the intense treatment he kept buying.

He hardly ever sees what he has except in boxes but he wouldn't part with any of them. He has even published a book about them. Why does he collect them? Because that's what makes him happy and why not, his wife doesn't mind and he can afford them, he got through the cancer too and rang the bell.

We are all different, that's just the way it is and we shouldn't moan about what others enjoy or do with their money just because we do something different. We all have our fix that gets us through life and makes it enjoyable, I do, five rifles, two pistols and lots of watches. Perfect. :) (y)

I was expecting a few more positive vibes, but it is what it is and I guess....hopefully... one day..... gun brands will see the light and do something different

Although... if they DID make a Special or Limited .. somehow better or cheaper.. or both... it would piss all over their regular sales for a few months

I've voted yes but I'm not normally a ltd edition type of person. But 3 guns stood out for me that I would break the mould for. Not really ltd edition but a red/white/blue BSA Goldstar SE so if anyone has one? Lol

Secondly the AA RSN70 a gorgeous, in my humble opinion rifle.

Lastly the AA ltd edition Kymira 40th anniversary again I think is gorgeous.

I wouldn't normally buy a special edition, but...
I did succumb to the temptations of the Alphawolf Blue special edition as I liked the blue block and stock 😁
Anyway it must be special becuase its engraved on the block

I usually agree but those 3 I mentioned, to me are worth it for their looks. But technically they're just blinged up standard guns

The only "limited edition" that ever even vaguely interested me was the Daystate Huntsman Midas (the gold plated one).

But then, I would prefer one that I wasn't afraid to use outdoors. I had the chance to handle one at my old RFD's, and I've rarely had a gun feel so natural in my shoulder.

The AA RSN 70 comes with a standard stock as well as the ltd edition stock so you can shoot the gun as well.

If it is a model I want then maybe.

The new HW35 anniversary doesn't do it for me.
They are nice and shoot well.
