British Knifemakers Thread

While I'm in a pocket knife mood, forgot to mention Furbellow and co, great service there and they have some nice knives and other bits on offer

Does anyone own any Taylors Eye Witness premium stuff? They have quite a selection on Furbellows and a lot of it looks rather nice, though a little pricey imo

Evening all

I always try to support independent business, so I know a couple of UK knife makers who make quality stuff with their own websites and readily available products but I'm looking for more to add to the list, I was thinking it would be good if people know of makers and products and put little mini reviews in here, so we all know where to go for some good stuff

I know there's some talented cutlers among forum members so they should feel free to throw their stuff in here too :)

A few I always find myself snooping around are Michael May Knives, York Knife and Tods Workshop (lots of cool medieval stuff but also a range of modern bushcraft and camp knives)

Who else do we like? UK based and produced only!
I am a knifemaker , I specialise in deerstalking knives yet i produce make everything but no Swords . I am on a break for nearly a year now dealing with health matters, mostly resolved now the website https://bowlandblades.uk/

My new one from.V knives .It's called a Puntilla .I've been a fan of this style knife since I watched Alatriste with Viggo Mortensen .Once I found one by an English maker I couldn't resist .I'm very pleased with the quality .

I suddenly thought, I mentioned Tods Workshop in my original post and didn't show any of his stuff

This is my coffin handled bowie from him, a really cool modern design with traditional elements I think, he does also do a full on 19th Century traditional bowie, which is on my wish list

I have only taken this camping once so far so can't comment on edge retention etc, but its a good quality carbon steel and feels very solid, the sheaths are also made inhouse and its very thick and high quality, I imagine will be more or less invincible

I like a satin finish on a blade, so this ticks all the boxes for me

Thats the fella, I should have put the link, he has one combined website now with both product ranges but 'cutler' is the more budget friendly stuff whereas 'workshop' are bespoke one offs

My bowie is part of the cutler range, I have 2 Workshop products of his, a 14th Century Rondel dagger and 16th Century Bollock dagger, I think most people here are more interested in modern utility/bushcraft knives, but I can post pics if people are interested :)

A few I always find myself perving on while browsing Instagram are certainly Ben Orfod and Stuart Mitchell the two most popular for me anyway. It’s a small pool of people in the UK but they are stand out makers.

Well I had no idea you were on this forum, thats interesting 😂

Please be aware I am heavily perving on your Huldra Dyed Masur Birch lately

Out of interest, could I have a standard leather sheath with the Huldra, If I didn't want to go for the fancy kydex one?

I see some of your knives have a more traditional sheath as standard

Please keep up the lovely work

Thanks for the kind words, right now it’s just what’s available on the website, show season starts for me this month so al side missions are off until I’ve enough stock made to cover the shows. They’re all paid for upfront (the shows) so can’t risk turning up with no stock to sell lol could you imagine 😂

Can I ask which shows you're attending please?

I didn't really know knife shows/conferences were much of a thing, but I'd like to try get out to some

Yeah, I’m doing the east Anglia game and country show, they have a bushcraft section this year. The northern country game show at Harrogate, Yorkshire game and country show, the bushcraft and survival show, billing 4x4 show, northern target shooting show and the sharp show.

I may squeeze in a few others energy depending lol
