Brit BSA Meteor Running HW Seals

Meteors are cheap and plentiful.
I think mine cost me 70 quid, though it did need a new spring and seal
Less than 100, all in.

There maybe plenty around but not many seem to get advertised. There's one on Gunstar for £275, I don't think it's boxed and the photographs aren't the best. It doesn't look that good, I guess decent early Meteors are getting scarce.
 
I'm thinking more like £70-100 for a reasonable project gun. Maybe I'm way off the mark? Last one I bought was £15 from a local flea market. I like meteors and might put some effort into finding a project MK1 or MK2 this year, but at much over £100 I won't bother. I've had plenty of them over the years and to me, that's about their ceiling price unless absolutely mint.
 
Has anyone a definitive answer to whether the hw seal or parachute seal is the best option or to stay with the original o ring seal
 
I have been trying the HW seal for a while and after a fair bit of use I found it can become a bit slammy it's a 25.2mm seal and now a little slack in the cylinder, it would be fine in the older MKI - MKII meteors with a smaller I/D cylinder .
IMHO The parachute seals do give the better results, if your cylinder is a bit worn or untrue you have the option of various sizes 25.2 - 26mm seals.
The majority of the time I supply a 25.6mm seal with the adapter kit, this seems to work well in most cases but I have had a couple needing a 26mm seal, I don't recommend honing out the cylinder unless its badly scraped or grooved, apply some X hatching with medium Emery paper on a flag to create lube reservoirs, BSA Meteor's Mercury's Airsporter's seals any seal for that matter don't like to be run dry.
