'Must Haves' in a classic air pistol collection

I was going to just collect Crosman pistols but so many others came my way!! 😊

As Russ said, The 600 is a must have!!, Brilliant fun rattling 10 pellets off as fast as you can squeeze the trigger!!

Of course everyone needs at least one Mak in their collection!

And a few Brits too..

John..
😍😍😍wow superb collection

Not a ‘must have’, but if you want something really rare in your collection, try to locate a TYREX, made in Russia in the same factory (and from many of the same parts) as the KEDR machine pistol. Other counrties got a full auto version - ours was semi only 🙁. Probably less than a dozen in the UK I’m told, all steel and made to firearms standards by a firearms company - that’s what makes it pretty special.

Wow @nikvanorton thanks for sharing that... looks massively over-engineered in a (positive) agricultural way.
Being an airgun though, I do wonder if it's (performance-wise), in the same league the Umarex HK MP5K (CO2 BB) air pistol.
All looks, but underwhelming, lacking in 'bang'?

Whereas carbine-wise, I'm looking forward to a warmer spring day, to try my @BobP adjustable Crosman stock on the Crosman 600. 🤓🔫😍🎯🤞🤞
(Here modeled by my Crosman 2240, bought from Pickering Guns Sept '24)...

These photos are extracted from my album

👉 #117 Plinking therapy pt.2 : The Crosman 2240, with three stocks, JackalHowl red dot & Discovery Optics 2-12x24 SFIR scope. 👈

As with all my (free) Flickr albums, these were images the mag' didn't have room for, and I didn't want to waste / not share them. It does cost me around £9/month to have all those albums online accompanying my various articles and videos, but hey-ho. 🤷🏻‍♂️
Cheers. Russ

It shoots about the same as any other CO2 BB gun (not amazing), but it terms of something to play with it’s exactly like handling the real thing 😎. I think that collectors air pistols are often chosen for reasons other than performance 😊

I get the appeal and have also owned a Dan Wesson pistol ('till I spotted the 2½" rifled liner within the chunky 8" dummy 6mm bore bull barrel), plus a Luger (cool fun inc' field-stripping that), but my Crosman 600 is the first and only CO2 pistol I've owned that puts out 3½ ft/lbs, so is a keeper. 🤓🔫🎯
Cheers. Russ

What about the "middle class" gat? The SP50 was a step up!
I've got one of those 'somewhere' and it's surprisingly powerful. Had a .22 version as well that I bought on holiday in 1990, should've kept it as I've never seen another in .22. I eventually swapped it for a Barnet slingshot. The .22 would put a decent dent in a wooden board and the .177 that I still have will actually 'stick' pellets into softwood. I also have a gat that I also bought on holiday (in 2001) from a fishing shop in Saundersfoot, it cost £17:00, bought on a whim to reminis my childhood really. These should be in any classic air pistol collection in my opinion. Relatively poor performance things, but a big part of childhood for many in Britain. A great time to be a kid, the last of the free generation.

Hi, I have never seen a FB Record Champion in the flesh, despite the difference in age it looks very similar to my ABAS Major in profile
:)
Sure I've seen it being played with on YouTube! Both record are amazing pistols, always wanted the jumbo as it's just so ridiculously small I'm a big fan of the tempest which I believe is a fantastic compact pistol!

Omg I loves this stuff the Sp50 was great also the Gat, gave mine to my nephew regret it I had so much fun with it, I have a mibro G10 somewhere they were also great fun.

Hi John, these for me were great fun hours & hours of fun not hitting the target! Just like the Gat awful but trying so hard to shoot them accurately. 😂

Here's one that is a bit rubbish, I hated them but a mate found one at a bootsale for me years ago, Had to give him twenty quid for it even though I hate the damned things! 🤢

The acky G-10!!

I'll bet almost everyone on here has had a 2240 at some time!!

John..
Defo full power great back up despatch gun, I gave one of these also a C9a think its a Benjamin.20.

FAS 604, Diana mod 5, plastic grip, Diana mod 6, plastic grip, Diana mod 10, Pardini Fiochi P10, FWB 80 ( best of the side levers), FWB C20, FWB C5, FWB 100, Walther LP53, Walther CPM1, Walther CP1, Steyr LP5.
Get over to Only Pistols on YouTube, there are 70 to choose from each and every one a classic that would go well in any collection
Borrowed my Dads 604 recently for a few weeks and loved it, he’s had it about 30 years I remember shooting it as a kid in the local gun club, still just as accurate now.

I've a Walther LP53 and an early HW45, as well as the obvious Webleys.

However, I'd also add the Record 'Jumbo' - even though I've never seen one, let alone used one!

FB Record pistols are fantastic, quirky things. Die cast aluminium is not usually thought to be a good place to start making a pistol, but it does give an ability make shapes you couldn’t afford to make affordably in

steel.

Heart breaking.
If only they'd known how sought after these would become.

It's been in the family since grandad bought it new , it then became Dad's who used it to teach me to shoot with darts indoors aged about six , it's now mine to cherish.

It's lived in this damp old cottage for about 66 years now so the years have taken their toll on the surface.

I had no idea of its rarity until joining AGF and doing a little research.

Apologies for not buying it for silly money in mint condition and plonking it in a glass case to shuffle over , I'm certain it has more meaning and memories attached than anything in most "collections" ... ;)
