Airgun World

I’ve never read an AirGun magazine, not sure my local WHSmiths stock them, but my first thought is:

Tread carefully.
That thought did cross my mind. During my working life I have seen good people take on a new challenge with the best intentions only to have it bite them on the arse a little way down the line (it's happened to me)but, I do hope that this goes as well as can be 🤞
....... I'll be looking forward to buying that first mag for a read 🙂👍

Congratulations Pete @Ganton Gunner !

It would be interesting to see whether being a guest editor could get you access to the various manufacturers and see if they would be willing to talk about some of the more contentious issues, e.g. what is the real process when a gun is returned to them for work if an RFD has been unable to rectify a problem ? Personally, I'm doubtful that they'd give you anything more than the usual spiel, but it'd be great if some of them cut the BS.

My comments were made with regards to the young and not about myself.
Me I personally collect vintage air rifles since I retired, but during my working life I only ever did rough shooting but I also got caught in the best shotgun tangle, spending money on shotguns that were no better than the shooter.
I ended up with the Original shotgun 40 years later my trusty AYA No4 after spending a fortune or wasting a fortune on something I did not need.

As already stated so eloquently; Airgun World = The printed equivalent of AAR.
So my question is how could it be changed into something that doesn’t resemble a sales brochure?

…I suspect the answer is it can’t.

Is there anyone on the editorial staff that’s capable of proof-reading articles to eliminate mistakes before it goes to print?

…I suspect not.

will there be a forum discount on the issue? I've never seen let alone bought a copy, so it might help them increase circulation (revenue) and run on costs are low, so would offset the discount
Discount? 😲 ....... Those magazines Don't grow on trees y'know 😃

Congrats to @Ganton Gunner and well done for Airgun World in recognising the AGF which Ganton is the "face" of. The challenge as can be seen in all the constructive comments is representing all the different disciplines contained within the forum. In fairness to the mag, with the guest editors, this I believe is what it's trying to do. My tuppence worth:

  • The mag used to contain an questionnaire that readers could complete, does the editor know what it's readers actually want from the mag?
  • I used to enjoy the gun comparisons in Airgun shooter e.g. AA TX200 v HW97, group tests. Nigel Allen editor of that mag now writes for AW, mainly on optics.
  • Given the increase on Benchrest, perhaps an article on equipment on the cheap vs expensive, a comparison of the different rules etc.
  • Given they have a library of old articles from Airgun World and Airgunner, perhaps they could reproduce some of these.
  • I'd love to read some of Jim Tylers articles, knowledge otherwise lost.
