The government alert that's been added to people's phone

I've got a 2 month old iPhone and there's no gov. app. on it.

where do you look in settings ...not worried really , its like for 30 seconds I think .

Air Raid sirens were an excellent idea in the past and actually saved many lives, but we're not at war as far as I'm aware so what other warning could I possibly need to know. I'm perfectly capable of looking out of my window to check the weather conditions and decide if I'm going out or not, or whether I need to blow the cobwebs off the canoe.
I'll take my chances without such intrusions into my personal life and it's nothing to do with being awkward, it's personal choice.

Could this be viewed as an overt demonstration by the government that it now has the means to lock you out of your own phone and in many cases ones' entire means of social and financial existence, should one stray from their righteous message? Is it also wise to be heeding any warnings of dire threat or consequence from a syndicate of self interested, mendacious bullsh@tters, elected or otherwise?

Under such circumstances, prudence should dictate that one secures ones' own perimeter. The suspicion is, many folk are quite content to
passively cooperate in this abusive relationship with authority, elected or otherwise. Authoritarian governments have already proven that they are quite prepared to stop us from living to save us
.... at no expense or inconvenience to themselves.
