Has anyone got the new bsa scorpion as I have been looking at one in local gun shop Melbourne guns thinking about trading both my rifles in for one just wondered if any issues with them
Fair comment mate, but yes I think the TS uses Gamo parts. Having said that, my GX40 was a very nice accurate rifle.I have a bsa scorpion se in .25 and it’s a brilliant rifle, however if the one you are looking at is the newer scorpion ts then it’s a different gun altogether. I’m sure they use a lot of gamo parts on the newer ones and the gauge is at the front of the cylinder instead of the underside of the stock. I too would be interested to hear what peoples experience of the ts model is but I have a feeling they have compromised on build quality with them compared to the se variants.
Same here, mine is std and so good that I sold the HFT500 and kept the BSA.I have a Scorpion SE. Absolutely brilliant gun. One of the guys on here added a reg and gave it a tune and I very rarely have to top it up these days as the consistent shot count far exceeds my limited needs.
Great tips there for the early T10s. Excellent rifles.I have a Scorpion T10 in.177 bolt action big brother to the Ultra which I have a .22 MMC. Great guns in standard form, reliable and easy to maintain but unregulated so there is a power curve and so both of mine have been regulated, the scorpion in .177 is now surgical and I've thoroughly enjoyed the process of tuning and refining it. Still on the to do list is to shim the trigger which has some sideways movement but like I say it is surgical as it is.
Things to look out for if it's secondhand:
Fit of magazine, the locating pin and hole can wear and the magazine then wiggles about which in turn leads to clipping the pellet as you cock it.
Does it still have an early magazine operated by a pin? the magazines can be troublesome and the pin can need adjusting. I've removed this mechanism and moved over to the later red and blue magazines.
Look for play in the bolt, pull it back so the end of the pellet probe is visible in the magazine aperture and get your little finger in there and try and lift / wiggle it and see how much play there is.
Wiggle the trigger side to side, they had play when new, if your lucky someone has already shimmed it for you, easy job.
Worthwhile upgrades on T10 would be a gauge at the fill end, later guns got a gauge anyway and a regulator I have Lane in the T10 and Huma in the Ultra and no real preference. They do turn up second hand with this done which could save you £80.
I only hunt with them in a plastic stock and put the woodwork safely in the back of the wardrobe.
Avoid dodgy modifications like the rear cap being drilled to make it externally power adjustable.
Having said all that, all parts are available and it's all relatively easily rectified.
