Taipan Slash Air Rifles

Had a play last week it was very nice indeed the trigger was sublime and I was surprised how good it felt overall the build quality is definitely there!

However shan't be pulling the trigger again anytime soon I'm waiting for the improved version to come and all the bugs to be ironed out before I'd consider dropping £2k on one.

Everyone I know that’s had a Slash has sent it back for refund.

I picked one up last week. I'd been hankering for a self indexer for a while. I didn't want to remortgage for a Steyr, and I'm not keen on buying Russian so this seemed the right option for me:

I have a few thoughts on it!
1) Surprisingly accurate! This is from me shooting it today, re-zeroing after some pellet testing. 25 yards in today's (~20 kt) wind, front rest only. Each group is at least 5 shots (even the one second from top left):

Most importantly, accuracy seems to be preserved even when I shoot it quickly. the bottom row on the target above is me pulling the trigger as quickly as I can (but keeping on target). This is a fresh import so perhaps the valving has had a fiddle?

2) Extremely pellet sensitive. With the above QYS and JSB shorts it's as accurate as any premium hunting PCP. With baracuda 8s you may as well load pebbles. I think it's to do with how they seat in the magazine - pellets with thinner skirts get deformed by the retaining pip. Lots of pellet testing needed, I reckon this is the reason a lot of folk haven't got on with them.
3) trigger is decent. It's not a proper match trigger but it's smooth and consistent.
4) I got the 1/2" UNF silencer adapter and it was not worth it. The built-in moderator works fine, and most of the leftover noise comes from the action. I've taken it off now.
5) build quality is excellent and I think it looks cool :)

Overall I love it. I've put 3 tins through it already and it hasn't missed a beat. It's as accurate as the ultimate sporter it replaced but way way more fun.

Now you have had more time with your Slash I was wondering how your getting on with it? I’m convinced there must be some positive experiences out there.

No complaints at all. I printed out the pellet specific seating tool, which has marginally improved accuracy, but other than that as above. It's now probably had about 10 tins of pellets through it (seriously, it is that expensive to run 😅 ) and it has been flawless.

I've had it over the chrono and it's also shockingly consistent - a spread of 4 fps across a full magazine, with the bottle at ~ 200 bar.

Perhaps I've been lucky and got a good one, but I get the impression that the newer batches of slashes have a lot of the kinks ironed out.

Sounds good and glad you’re enjoying it. Still thinking of getting one, probably the 420 version. Am I correct in saying you get a tool with these to tweak the power up or down?

Mine went back Twice nice gun when it worked. it came back a lot worse from a repair would not index shot pellets like a shotgun. yes you can adjust Air easy and tool is supplied.
