Is the Weihrauch hw75 a toy for better terms or is it a serious pistol when it comes to putting pellets on target ? I love mine but do think the hammer valve side of design is a bit more of a novelty. Is such a pistol the laughing stock of 10 meter target shooters or would you be accepted with open arms if you were to turn up at the range with one ?

Some shooters might look down their noses, but if you shot a 95 card with it, that would make them pay attention.
I know someone who's Morini was poorly and the only other pistol he had was an HW45; there was a match so he had to use that.

His score was in the 570's...

so is a HW75 a toy NO they are too damn expensive to be a toy 560.00 usd now
are they a 10-meter pistol NO but they can shoot 10 meters
is the other pistol in the picture a HW75, i doubt it but a Beeman P2 did come with a full grip frame
now do i think a HW75 could be used in 10-meter competition sure why not

With the right pellet they are perfectly capable of holding the 10 ring, they are just hard work compared to a full on 10m pistol, so no problem, but will be harder work.

You certainly wouldn't get laughed off the range if you turned up with one.
It would do to perfect your technique for sure and produce scores you wouldn't be ashamed of...if you did your part.
Would it be a competition winning gun? - unless you're a shooter of exceptional talent I highly doubt it.

But there's the rub

A half decent shot, using a HW75 would probably beat a poor shot, using a top flight comp pistol

But you won't find many poor shots in competitions, hence why you wouldn't be winning any...😉
Not in top level comps you won't. I agree.

But at club level, and in the AGF pistol comps, plenty shoot pistols that are way beyond them and get beaten by shooters with far lesser gear

I owned a P8X and quickly realised that the limiting factor with my results, was me, so moved it on
I do as well, with far less expensive gear

The pistol is inherently capable of very good accuracy, whether the shooter is skilled enough to take advantage of it......................

I have been able to hit 5 pence groups consistently at 15 meters........ Rested with a 2x20 scope if that counts 😂

I very much doubt that the HW75 was designed to a user requirement spec or to satisfy a particular shooting application. In my opinion it was launched simply as a SSP incarnation of the popular HW45. I couldn't get on with mine for 10 m use despite investing in a custom semi anatomical grip. The height above web of hand was just too much for me to establish a comfortable, confident and repeatable aim.

But despite the mystery around its true, intended use, it's been selling viably for 35 years. So HW did something right.

Even at club level, based on my own experience - I don't think you'll find any medal winners using HW75's... 😉

Having a 75 (plus 45s, plus ‘proper’ target pistols), I would say the 75 is a very capable precision informal target pistol. If it was perfect then as above you’d see them winning medals in the top flight competitions. Their limitation is mainly the sights and the fact they can’t be easily tweaked the way the likes of Steyr et al. can. Otherwise, if they fit your hand, they are great….
