Anybody else get a nervous eye twitch filling up their tank with a compressor? 😂
First go doing mine, only ran it from 180bar to a top up of 250bar don’t think there’s much advantage going much higher considering how much extra strain there is going on to 300.

Absolutely sensible and correct
I’ve only got one gun that I can fill to 250 and I’ve never gone much over 200 as I don’t like the thought of high pressure at those pressures unless you really need to, it’s got a 500cc bottle so don’t need the extra shot count. It all makes me nervous and I’d rather be weary than complacent with it. Hearing some guys over filling guns rated to 200 is just throwing a dice in my books. I also don’t like the bottle designs under your cheek either.

I was far from comfortable the first couple of times I used my compressor on my tanks. Pretty sure it was starfish not eye that was twitching, too. 🤣
I have a checklist of the necessary steps to make sure I did everything needed and in the right order which I used the first few times. I found it was good for ensuring no missteps and was helpful towards ingraining the routine.

I have had a 6.8L, a 5L, a 3L and a1.1L Weekender that I've used the compressor on. The two larger are now gone, I found I didn't need anything that big now I could take out the middle man when it came to getting air. The 1.1L I'll pretty much fill, I'll go up to 280/290 on that. The 3L I'll go to about 260/270.

Like you, the 5L I didn't go much past 250 and the 6.8L I only did once anyway, to 240, I think.

The guns I have, only a couple are 250 bar fills and I only go to 230 on them. It's a happy mid-place for me. I think it's a bit of a waste having a 250 bar-capable gun and only juicing it to 200, especially as they are quite big capacity. However, I don't feel the need to push past that 230 mark.

I'm with you on the bottles by the face design but it's not logic to not make the best use of the guns capacity, really. The reality is, if it lets go at 200 or 230, it'll be messy and it's not likely the difference in the extent of the mess will recognisable. In fact, not much affected by the energy release will be recognisable from what it was pre-pop. 😄

Being green and mean, I'll do most things to save energy and also save money. EG my house energy bills come out at near zero - only standing charges screw me up.
Many folk find that PCP's at above 190 bar can get a bit erratic. If you have a tank, and a regulated gun that works from, say, 125 to 275, you might fill at 275 and get 150 shots, or settle for 200 and get 75 shots, doing that twice.
In the former case, you'd probably have to try and fill the bottle to 300 bar, but in the second case, 250 would be plenty. I observe that my compressor has to work quite noticably harder, hotter and slower as it gets past 230 bar. It's much more energy efficient to use the lower settings.
In operation, the less pressure difference going on in the gun, the better. Several reasons for that.

I have a 5ltr tank which i fill regular to 300bar with a eeagle vision compressor with no probs i need about 280 for the vixen then fill the rest of my guns 250 and 200 then top the bottle back up
