Motorcycle test.

Do people think that a man approaching 59 is too old to get back into bikes & take my test?.

Up until the age of about 19 I always had bikes up to 125cc...I used to do a lot of Motorcross scrambling & then had some trials bikes but never actually took a full bike test.
I'm in a position now to buy something really nice & fancy a nice Harley Davidson or similar.
A friend has some awesome BMW touring bikes Also 😘.
Never to old !! But !! The roads in the UK are not great if on 2 wheels!!!
I gave up !!

I'm 78 and am still licensed to ride motor bikes and have toyed with the idea of having a bike on the odd occasion but considering the little use it would get in as much as i'd only be a fair weather biker and don't have a garage to keep it in it would deteriorate.
Past my bike test in 1965 on a Honda CB92 Benly Sports at Slough test centre.
Last time i owned and rode a bike was back 2000/2001.
What happened to to the motorcycle courier industry there was a time when m/cycle couriers were everywhere delivering packages. The shaft drive Kawasaki GT500/550? was their bike of choice was it not.
With the number of dicks on the road these days you've certainly got to have your wits about you whatever you drive but definitely on 2 wheels.

Yes indeed what has happened to them!! My go to bike as an instructor was my faithful Hond CX500, now that was an excellent 🏍

Perhaps the internet has killed it as people can send many types of documents over the internet to be downloaded at the other end.
I believe Royal Mail now deliver more packages and parcels than they do traditional mail such as letters.
And of course for packages there's man with a van, these self employed drivers but subcontracted by these delivery companies being paid about 50-60p per drop.

I'm still riding at 73. I've got around a half a million miles on the street and have only been hit once. Been riding since I was 16. Just remember, you have to watch out for the cars and trucks and expect them to try and hit you. Ride like a fighter pilot in combat.

Never too old, tbh I put mine up for sale .I was fed up with hurting too much when riding (hands wrist a numb ass after 20min) But ….. I could not bare not having one having had them since 1976 so it’s still here . Just make sure what ever you get after passing your test is comfortable and manageable.

Agree here’s mine 1979 CX500 Honda You don’t see many good ones about now. Most have either been ridden into the ground or rotted away This ones always a good conversation piece at our Local Bike Night Everyone and their Mother seemed to have owned one at some time or another mostly for dispatch riding This ones just done 14k barely run in.

There's been some fantastic replies guys 😉.
I'm still up for taking a test it's just life is getting in the way at present with one thing & another 🤝.

And 59 is nowhere near 'too old'. Go for it!

Why not see if you can get a taster session and see how it goes. That's what I did after not riding for over 30 years lol

I passed my test at 17, had bikes for about ten years then ever since I’ve just had cars.

Thought about getting another one about ten years ago but honestly, the poor driving and now the state of the roads puts me right off….just to dangerous for me to feel comfortable
Word for word what I was going to say (except 16 not 17). That said if somebody were to gift me a BMW R69 I could be persuaded to change my mind.
