My recent purchase been after a 20g over & under for circa 5 years but with life something has always came up & money has been needed else where so the 20g idea was always put on the back burner.

Finally tho the itch has been scratched picked up a second hand lincoln premier 20g 28inch barrel fixed choke model taken out today for a go at the pigeons brillant bit of kit!

Shoot an 20 bore Aya box lock, love it on pigeon and crow with 21gram of 7 1/2s sounds like it wouldn't do the business but it's perfect, shoot better with that than anything else, think it's great for hide as so easy to swing and so snap shoot

Any other cartridge recommendations? I've just been using hull high pheasant 28g 5s as I had them laying around they are punching in that lincoln possibly as its only got a solid/plastic butt pad not a foam type one on it.

It's choked 1/4 3/4 fixed

I think the loads I've been using are Lyvale. They may even be clay loads. But I've found the combination in the 20 bore perfect and very pleasant to shoot. And it brings things down. I think despite the smaller shot there's just so much more in the pattern. And that's with a very light SXS with no uncomfortable recoil, so you might get away with a 23gram or 25gram load of 7s or 6s, in your heavier gun.
I think leave the 28gram for the 12 bore!

I think there well made all the parts are still available for them & they are still making them lincoln guns are made by F.A.I.R italian gun makers. Johnny carter from tgs did a review on the lincoln guns & he mentioned that they scale the actions down brilliantly this is one of the reasons I bought this was I will find the video & attached it. I would go have a look at it I'm sure you will come home with it

Look at a Lincoln/FAIR then look at a Caesar Guerini. There are some similarities, my Fair jubilee prestige is essentially a Tempio.

They're seriously underpriced on the market.

Our continental cousins make much use of smaller calibres in fact so do the Americans,
Super gun for bolting rabbits, and similar, good luck 🤞 mitch21

Did you get any further with your Lincoln 28 guage enquiry? I have a Lincoln in 20b and although it's for the wife and a bit small for me, it's a nice tidy gun. I had to use it crow shooting a few weeks ago and it did really well. Operator error was the only issue for any misses. I think I was putting 28 or 30g 6's through it using full and 1/2. Didn't think it kicked too much. Nice guns for the money.

I am a 16 bore shooter (and reloader which is a necessity with 16ga) and keep seeing these come up at sensible money. It will interesting to see how you get on with it

Got an old 686 20 bore I use on walked up days , everything is so much lighter than the 12 bore not just the gun but cartridges too, makes for a more enjoyable day , often use it in the hide too
