What is the best/worst scope you have tried?

Best for me are the two vector optics scopes I have currently.
Veyron and Taurus. FFP was wierd to get used to initially but now I love them. Hold zero very well. Nice crisp adjustments, very good for not huge money. Can't compare to top dollar scopes as I don't have 4 figures to drop on a scope but for my purposes they are superb.

Worst would be a Nikko sterling mount master clone. I didn't realise it was a clone upon purchase as I was new to the sport then. It held zero for about 3 shots and then needed constant adjustments until eventually the wire reticle broke. That scope then became the 'saving private ryan' scope if you catch my drift haha!

Never bought anything "top end" but I found Nikko Sterling to be poor, Hawke acceptable and Simmons Pro Air and Nikon EFR excellent.

As for the top end, not really tried much yet... (but I'm looking for a truly excellent scope for my ISP when it gets finished, so any advice/thoughts/experiences appreciated!)
If you are looking for a scope for your ISP then ask Shaun what he suggests and used on his Airstream.
I think you may be surprised with his reply.

Worst was a Simmons Blazer 8-32x44AO I had on my Daystate. This was when Simmons suddenly went cheap on us.
What can I say about that lemonski? If you magged up from 8 to 32, a veil of darkness decended upon you that resembled a solar eclipse. You couldn't see through the damn thing. On firing the Daystate, a 'boing' could be heard coming from scope's internals which sounded like Zebedee from the magic roundabout. The scope was then named Zebedee as a result.
It was the pile of the century.

Better than a Centerpoint I tried - at over 6x the view turned to looking through a pint of heavy cream😮

Having had a few Simmons WTC's I thought I couldn't go far wrong with a Blazer. My God, how wrong was I. This didn't turn to cream on high mag, it went black like the lights had gone off. Only usable at about 18 mag but still looked like dark on that setting.
My Simmons experience thus ended at that point, that was 20 years ago.

Worst scope ever was a 4x20 I think it was from the 1970s (a gift from a neighbour)

EVEN THE SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN WOULD NOT SEE THROUGH IT!!!

Pride of ownership was a No 32 mk3 made by Houghton Butcher Manufacturing Company…..just …..just because of the history of it.

Best scope Hertel and Reuss 4x16-56 seemed excellent for my eyes…….regret selling the last two.

A mate had a Schmidt and Bender 4-12x42, 2.5-10x56 also a Khales can’t remember the exact magnification but it was not more than 6x in a claw quick detach mount but was amazingly bright and very clear .

regards Rookandrabbit.

Best scope I have used ( not including for nv add ons ) is a Nikko diamond 1.5-6 x44 for airgun use . It's been bomb proof and decent optics even alongside modern scopes . Just one of them things what suits the individual and I have more than had my money's worth out of .

My Nightforce NX8 4-32x50 Mil-XT

Outstanding piece of kit, stunning glass and hugely robust.

I’ve got an Element Helix on my S510TR and that thing does the business too. Great price point!

Worst was an MTC I had briefly, the best is a toss up between my Delta and Valdada Hubbles…

I don't buy high end scopes I have always used Nikko Stirling 6 x 40AO scopes on my springers, suits my needs perfectly. Worst scope was one I didn't own, it belonged to a friend a cheap and nasty unbranded 3 -9 x 40. So nasty when you altered the zoom the cross hairs rotated in time with you turning it - I kid you not !!!

Best Cheapo scope would be a Wulf 2-7 x 32 or a Panamax 3-9 x40 nice clear rets on both, well made and adjust well and cheap..

Best Mid Range must be the Lightsream.. superb clear glass and amazing for the money ..

Best High end then anything Nightforce and Schmidt and Bender does it for me..

Most disappointing my Element Helix.. not as good as a Hawke Airmax if you ask me and a bit miffed I bought one unseen but I Should have known after watching many a review from Matt ‘FX’ dubber and crew 😳

Worst the BSA 4 x 20 scope I bought new for nostalgic reasons off eBay a while ago for £15.00… I should have just saved £14.50 and selotaped an empty smarties tube to my old meteor… same effect but with choccy to eat 😆

Quite some time has now passed since the OP, I ended up fitting a Zeiss Conquest V4 4-16x50 and have no regrets.
