Afternoon!

I currently own a AT44-10 Tac and a Weihrauch 77 (Mk1 I think). They are both great guns for on the range but a pain for pest control due to the length and weight. Fine, when you're static but I have a permission at a Golf Club and its an absolute pain to carry either of them around once the bunnies scarper.

I love the Bullpups and small rifle designs like the NP02 so does anyone have any suggestions for a budget (ish) rifle to look at? Ive been looking at the Kral Breaker as well as the NP02. I tried out the Walther Reign a few weeks ago and loved the balance and size but its a bit out of the budget at the moment. Im waiting to get my FAC back which is going to be a while as our Force is WAY behind, so want something in the meantime thats good for pest control, sub 12ftlbs so the kids can use and isnt going to break the bank for when the FAC comes through so I have money to play with then.

Any ideas or suggestions for any to go and have a look at? Weight wise, between 2.5 & 3.5kg is plenty I think but by all means, let me know if Im talking nonsense! If I could get something with a reg that would be a bonus as the tac only manages about 40 shots before it needs refilling which is also a pain.

Open to any suggestions on older guns as well to look out for. Thanks in advance!

I have a Reximex Regime which has been faultless and very accurate. Not to everyone's taste though!
The Reximex Myth is a compact carbine which also shoots extremely well.

My daughter has an NP-02 and loves it. Cheap, parts easily available and does the job brilliantly for it's price range. Can be a little "twangy" on the action but otherwise a decent little rifle with good accuracy. You'll be hard pushed to find a better rifle for that sort of money.

I've been using a Kral PB bullpup for my main pesting rifle for about 3 years now. I was somewhat underwhelmed by it out the box, but after a reg fit and some tinkering it's a completely different rifle and wouldn't be without it. happy to give you more info if you wish.

Not used one myself but the EmpireXS may be worth a look? similar to the puncher breaker.

May be beyond the price range but they can be found at decent prices second hand, an ixia compact may fit the bill and comes with a reg.

A second hand Ultra would be a relatively cheap small rifle too but shot count isn't massive.

The Kral PB is not particularly light and also has a useable shot count of around 40 as it comes from the factory, with a fair bark from the end of the muzzle!
However once regulated and a HW moderator fitted, it's now whisper quiet with a shot count of over 200 (in .177). (y)
Haven't managed to do much about the weight though🙁

Any of the Turks really, their decent budget offerings and new have a warranty, npo2 has decent shotcount but needs a silencer, npo3, breakerpup, regime, myth, Akela.

Plenty of choice in the budget arena, and some cracking bargains to be had with used stuff.

The stoeger xm1 bullpup looks the best out of the p15 family. Remington T rex is reasonably priced but don’t think it’ll take a silencer.

I currently own a mk1 kral PB which although isn’t the lightest is a great well balanced pup. My favourite at the moment is my Artemis P10 again a great gun. Had a bad experience with a npo2 so can’t recommend. My reximex akela is another great gun that didn’t need any sorting for sub12.

P35,,I've had mine years, very accurate, compact and lightweight, 100 consistent shots per fill, basically a p15 but with cocking lever in a better place

If you are able todo some simple fettling, look at the Remington T Rex or the Beeman 1357/8. £350 max

On the budget bullpup front I would lookout for a Gamo Boxer or a Ultra for the carbine , good basic guns which can be improved into a keeper go to gun cos it does the job .

I must have been lucky with the two I have previously owned

I wasn’t with the the two I had, absolute cheap Chinese tatt, the glaring problem with Artemis/snowpeak stuff is the importer refuses to carry/supply spares so if like me you got duff ones the ability to service or maintain them was removed making them disposable I guess.
Trouble is its a lottery with them as Ive a mate who bought one of the first batch when they were £249 and it was trouble free until this summer, he now has an Edgun r5m
