I have just got my interest back in to spring air guns . No room to shoot at home safely so was thinking of going to an air gun range but I only have a cheep little 177 Hatsan 900 . With 3-9x40 scope . Will l be welcome or just scoffed at . I was told it can get a bit snobby and my guns bigger than yours thing. I just wanted to get back into it and then maybe upgrade to something better. What would be a good upgrade to get next. Any suggestions thanks.

You may well receive the odd negative comment, so, fxxx em, they aren't really the people you want to associate with anyway imo. I'm sure most though will be nice people.
A nice HW97 or AA TX 200 would be an excellent upgrade when your ready to move on.

I hope you don't get the 'snobby' treatment, Gary. Go with what you've got. I think you have two options when at the club. Engage with the snobs and pick their brains as to a suitable upgrade or play a solo game game and ignore the rest. Invariably you'll make friends and hopefully your enjoyment will eclipse your initial reservations. Good luck.

Most shooters will be much more interested in how safe you are rather than your kit. There are always going to be individuals who look down on others, take no notice and just out shoot them. Start thinking about changing kit when you have reached the limits of what you have now. I think many fellow shooters will be happy, if not eager, to let you try their kit especially if you are a friendly and sociable guy who has demonstrated a committment to safety,

Mate most important thing is that you shoot safe at the range --enjoy what you are shooting and ******** to the rest if they want to be snobs let them have there fun --as said as long as you safe and enjoy what you are shooting im sure most if not all will welcome you -everyone started somewhere

I had similar thoughts, I have an old BSA Supersport, with the silencer it looks like a pool cue 😆 has a cheapo fixed mag scope in it. I've just started shooting it again after a few years, going to join a club in the new year. My thinking is if anyone has a problem with what I'm shooting it's exactly that, THEIR problem 😁 You're doing the right thing choosing to shoot safely mate, don't worry about what others think and enjoy yourself.

Most ranges are full of people that are enthusiastic and friendly. And like any place that you can go to, there is the odd twat.

Improve your technique, and see what the Hatsan is capable of, before you write it off and rush for something else.

You may be invited to try some of the other toys that others have brought. It can be a fun way to while a few hours away on a regular basis.

Have fun, most importantly though is to be safe.

Just do it mate. I used to turn up regularly with my bsa lighting, 22 as an extra target touch! Snobby nosed people everywhere, but you'll soon see people showing an interest.
At the end of the day, if you can hit targets with a cheap gun the same as those with expensive guns, then whose the smartest?

I was hoping you would say that. I think I need to start saving up now for the HW97 or TX 200 . Thanks for your advice

If I worried what other people thought of me, I wouldn’t get out of bed in the morning. Just go and enjoy yourself, you’ll find the majority of people are fine. Just because you’ve got a cheap gun means nothing.

That’s very good advice thank you very much

We all had a ‘First Day’ at a new range, or club. I was there once, shuffling past the Redwolfs, and XTi50s, with my 15yr old Hatsan. Take biscuits, that worked for me, everyone will talk to you, if you’re handing out hob nobs
