Hunting Which day night vision?

@verpa The Zulus' image is outstanding, they're very light / compact and the 312R's BCL works down to very short ranges. The 850nm IR illuminator head is also swappable to 940nm.

This is great because within 10m on my bullpups (with high scopes), each metre makes a significant difference to the calculated holdover; the closer the target the greater the difference.

I do own both a gen.1 Pard DS35-50RF and a gen.2 DS357RF and I do like them (hence still owning both), but I also own both a ZHD520R a ZHD312R. If I could only choose one design it would be the Zulus. 🤓
If you don't shoot beyond 30m I'd go for the ZHD312R, if you shoot beyond 30-40m = ZHD520R.

Hope this helps, cheers. Russ
Hi russ, watched your vid on the ds35 vs and the alpex 50, which helped remove the alpex. I think i will go with the the dnt 5-20 for now and look at some more vids of different nv units. Thanks to all for your advice
P.S. russ keep the vids coming :)

whats the phone app like and do you have to update the sight regular?
It's pretty simple to use, replaces the two early Arken Apps (the DNT App serves both functions), and no -so far there have been occasional updates, to correct one or two early hiccups (long since resolved), then the latest adds features requested by users, and improves thermal image performance.

But if you're happy as-is, there's no need to update, this isn't like an Apple device that constantly requires updates. 🤓
Cheers. Russ

Cheers bud, am trying -we've had no power since Friday morning so that's slowing me down. 😖
My next should be on the ATN X-Celsior 3-9x... once our power's restored.
Cheers. Russ

Hope they sort the power soon , not the best weather to be without and i`ll keep an eye out for your next vid.

I`m rubbish with tech and related stuff, I even posted the "which day night vision" in the wrong section, i`ll get the hang of it one day. Thanks again for you help

Hi gilly, what is the closest range the ds35 will work
Hi Verpa, I have 3 pards and an Alpex lite, Pards have much better eye relief and my ds35 50s will focus to 6m or slightly less. I also use 940nm as the short ranges for Air are better with 'stealth' IR as 850nm red light shows too much at close range.

Having not really had a digital scope before - apart from a pre-production add-on unit in 2007, I really like my Hik Alpex 4k Lite. Reticle thickness is fine for me, though others feel it is too thin. I did a quick review on this site about my thoughts.

The Zulus V1 and V2 are both good at the price point, £500 and £600 last time I looked. For better image quality I'd go for the hikmicro alpex 4K LRF (£700) that adjustable aperture makes quite a difference, less pixelation.

Does the Lite version have that? I was wondering what the difference was between the Alpex models.

Very helpful

I wouldn't be without my V2 lrf 3-12 now it's brilliant and easy to set up the ballistic calculator by just going into the menu , if I can do it anyone can , I have the earlier model 5-20 but I didn't get the lrf model as was told the ballistic calculator was harder to set up for none techies like me .not much rely impresses me these days but the V2 has for airgun use on the usual rats and rabbits .

I use the 12mm pard oo7 with a low mag scope Hawke with parallax, perfect from very low to 200 yds if you get the right IR, I use a 940 close up as it doesn’t upset rests or rabbits

Ive had the V1 3x12 zulus on my Ghost for past year now and its never let me down. Its only lost zero once and that was only because i knocked my tripod over one night while ratting  Once set up you dont really need to mess about with any of the settings, just switch on, focus, range find and shoot.
I recently bought the Alpex 4k lite. Not had a proper chance to fully test it yet or use it for pest control but so far looking good. Others on here have much more experience with the Alpex 4k lite. But both scopes will do a great job.
