When was the last time you "saw" a GP?

Years , pick up tablets once a month at chemist, blood test when they remember, phone call to say carry on taking the tablets 🤔😁

NHS is on its ass and the doctors are all just money hungry they don't care about the patients. I've not seen my doctor for about 15 years and to be honest he was a good man. The little toads of today are useless. My daughter has a peanut allergy and we've been waiting for over 6 months for patch tests.

A bit off topic but.......

Just a thought, get proper medical.avice etc ......

I have had Arthritis in my hands for decades, especially my thumbs.
Some years ago a lady friend suggested that I try Evening Primrose Oil and it has made a huge difference!
I get less pain now that 40 plus years ago.

I take 2 large capsules a day and it takes a couple of weeks to "kick in" but my hands are now virtually pain free.
If I run out or stop for any reason than I can feel the difference after a few days.

If you are medically OK to take these then why not try it?

Background story.
The lady wad advised to try Evening Primrose Oil for symptoms of the menopause and found that it had a dramatic effect on her hands - hence the suggestion that I try it.
I take maritime pine bark extract clinical tests showed it was better than any prescribed pain killer for Arthritis!

At this very moment. Phoned this morning to get a note for my meds and my medical device (holiday travel). Was told by the receptionist to come in for 1145 hrs. Result! This never happens usually

I have zero issues seeing my GP, am always able to get a same day appointment for face to face, and they are utterly brilliant.

Same as my local A&E, spent 12 hours there on Monday (only half an hour waiting, the rest was tests consultations) and they could not have been better.

We get in the phone queue and it tells you to press 1 and they will call you back instead of waiting. They call back and let it ring once. You havent got the time to get it out of your pocket before they hang up.

I saw the GP Jan 24....I needed to see a Gastroenterologist....I got an appointment quickly because it ticked the potential cancer box....had an Gastroscopy......and that was it.....no follow up.....so I paid to see a specialist (saw her the week after) who made a diagnosis and sent me for tests. I eventually got the NHS follow up appointment for 9 months later. (cancelled it) The good news is it isnt cancer but still it needs some work. Im in on Saturday for a scan followed by a procedure within 3 weeks...

I’ve given up. I have various health issues, some I should see a doctor about but it’s a waste of time. After discovering I have a lump on my left kidney I started getting bruising on my leg and waist. Did get an appointment and mentioned my concerns and the doctor prescribed creams for the bruising. Looking back I think they should of referred me to dermatology as over a year later the bruising is still going. Now when you call the doctor, unless you’re at deaths door you get a telephone appointment. Without seeing you physically how are they suppose to diagnose your symptoms correctly and prescribe the correct meds?
It’s a total joke of a system now. IMG_1122.jpeg

First contact with my surgery has to be via an app, really hated it when first introduced now love it and yes I accept not all are IT equipped and I am sure alternatives are available. Message sent at the end of August, within 30 minutes of pressing send I had a phone call, “you’ve an appointment with Dr XYZ in 30 minutes”. Spent 5 minutes in front of the doctor, “A&E NOW, they’ll be expecting you, don’t detour on the way there”. Three weeks later I walked out of the hospital happy to be alive.

Last week I messaged with my symptoms of gout. Thirty minutes later a message from my GP, “I’ve prescribed 5-days of ABC, read the attachment and do as it says.” Tablets picked up from the 24-hour dispensing machine a few hours later.

I can’t fault my whole practice and they delegate to the nurses, nurse practitioners, pharmacists (and others I expect) as appropriate. I accept fully however that others are not as fortunate and things elsewhere are broken.

Our local GP service is amazing - phone up and the staff know you by first names and ask what time you want to come in.

The doctor then usually has a chat as well - one youngish Canadian lady GP is properly funny and has me laughing every time.
That sort of interaction probably brightens her day a little aswell 🙂👍

My missus called at 08:00 on the dot (recorded message til then) and was told all appointments had gone and she try again tomorrow. Our surgery are useless, can never get on and I had to complain when a receptionist "diagnosed" my prostate problem as a UTI.......arseholes the lot. Illegal immigrants get preferential treatment too.

Saw one yesterday, I don’t normally bother, but something needed examining.
It’s took a lot of patience and frustration for the wife to get an appointment, hence the above.

Saw a GP this very evening. Well, technically a mate who's a retired GP. He took early retirement because the NHS rated beaurocracy higher priority than care, because patients are now often abusive sh*ts who believe they are entitled princesses and because the generous salary and pension (not available to today's doctors) meant he could.

So as of this week, GP's are required to offer an online contact form for non-urgent problems and the Doc is supposed to ring you back to discuss. Yesterday I thought I'd try it and 6 hours later got a text message telling me to call the surgery next week between 8 & 10am. 🙄

i spent 3 years off and on, listening to the docs answer phone telling me where else to go, chemist, optician, dentist or if its an emergency the hospital. always followed by "no appointments left for today, try again tomorrow"
it turned out that it was an emergency, but not being a medical man myself i didn't know. but when it turned into a massive heart attack, a four hour wait for an ambulance, 2hours on the work bench and 5 days in the ICCU, i was pretty sure my first guess for the need of a GP was correct.

i rather feel the answer phone isnt sound medical advice. or was it trying to kill me.
it certainly makes the doctor look efficient, as they can truthfully say everyone who makes an appointment gets seen the same day.
but had i been allowed to see the GP earlier, would it have saved the ambulance, surgeon and 5 day ICCU care. for the price of blood thinners and statins?
and kept me from, as i see it, bed blocking.

Long before covid.

The stupid thing is I have had 3 sick notes and a fit to work under light duties notes recently and only ever sent messages through their online portal.
