What's happening to society 😞.

I do try & be as straightforward & honest as I can as it's been bred into me!...a lot now couldn't even lie straight in bed unfortunately 😜.
Have you noticed how it has crept into standard conversation to start speaking with…

“To be honest with you…”
“Let’s be right about this…”
“I’m not going to lie to you…”

It’s as if deceit is the accepted default and anything contrary needs highlighting as exceptional.

They relied on us just voting for the least worst option every time but I don't think it going to keep happening.
I've never known the population be so dissalusioned, so angry and have so much pure hatred for those in power.
And I mean ALL of them, not just the current government.
New governments usually get a few months "honeymoon period" after they are elected, Starmers lasted a matter of days, if not hours.
Dangerous times.
I don't think the rest of Europe is far behind us either
Notice your cross channel neighbors conveniently took Mrs. Le Pen out of play...
Jackin' up the status quo...

My daughter is a commercial surveyor now but used to deal in private motor insurance & even 10 years ago the amount of dodgy dealings was Incredible!...a common one was policy holders with the same surname sharing just one policy.
I am reliably informed that the same problem exists for Theory Driving tests.

Absolutely spot on 😉.
The thing that worries me is the future of my children & grandchildren 😭... God knows what the latter Will face in there adult years?
I'm 60 next year & don't want to wish mine or anyone else's life away but...
I actually find the best way to deal with everything that's going on is to almost cocoon myself within a circle of people I enjoy being around & boll****ks to the rest, thing is it only lasts 24 hours & I'm off on one again 🙄.

The cost of living situation is desperate for a lot of folk?... & that includes a lot who absolutely graft there wotsits off & are still in reverse gear?.
There building some houses by me where the cheapest ones start at £525k...a large proportion will be housing immigrants through housing associations 🤐 .
My daughter has a very well paid job as a commercial surveyor but is a single member mom with two kids & can only rent a terraced house because most of her income goes on childcare/rent bills....
What are we playing at in the UK??
Most working people I know are bloody frightened to visit a dentist because of costs.
Why is everything free for immigrants?....90% aren't fleeing troubled countries!!...
Not content with milking us dry there causing crime levels to escalate & putting lots of hard working shopkeepers in jepody by constant thieving off them.

And the fact that we were still paying the bill for doing it up to 2006.
Spent over 60 years up to our arse in debt to the Americans.
And that included us buying on credit all the equipment that was given to the free french forces.
Then clearing a path so they could "Liberate Paris" in American tanks bought on British credit.
They got money pumped into their counties from the U.S to rebuild after the war. We got an invoice and told to make do with whatever smashed up crap we still had left😡
That's why we were still running clapped out steam trains on a worn out Victorian network well into the late 60s while they zoomed around on their shiny new high speed trains laughing at us for how far behind we were.
Any offers from them, the EU or any of the other formerly occupied countries to take their cut of the debt? Of course not. I mean, it's not like we pissed away a large percentage of it liberating their countries from tyranny is it🤨
Should have just fortified the island, concentrated on fighting in the places that mattered to us and only us and left the ungrateful gits to the Nazis.
That is untill the Russians arrived then they could have had a few decades of that lovely socialism they are so fond of.
Peut-être les Français se souviennent-ils de l'Attaque de Mers-el-Kébir...

Double post; sorry...

Immigration is good if people bring much needed skills and integrate into their adopted country.
My Mother moved here from Singapore in the 60s, brought skills and spoke fluent English. She then met my English Dad & I was their only child.
What we have been witnessing is not even a close comparison to legitimate immigrants.
I have and always will consider myself English born & bred.
Despite some similarities in skin tone I have zero affinity with the new arrivals.
This is by design.

Absolutely correct.... What's been happening the last few years is nothing short of scandalous 🤐.
And the idiots welcoming the boat people onto our shores need locking up themselves

Cheese eating surrender monkeys

Bring back the old school plain clothes security guards
They weren’t scared of anyone
Seen them disarm a junkie with a knife and then take him into a quiet room and batter the fcuk out of him
It was even worse if they caught someone stealing the pick and mix lol
Scum bags nowadays know the police will take their side and charge the good guys with gbh
So everyone is scared to intervene
The uk is fcuked
It’s time to get on that rocket to mars and leave this planet
I genuinely fear for my daughter and granddaughter with the way the uk is going

Brazil is 1984. It’s the same story.

…and very prescient it is too.

Read 1984 last year just a stone’s throw away from where Eric finished writing it, purely by chance.

Most frightening thing I have ever read because it is becoming non-fiction.

Interesting that Eric had a deep loathing and distrust of the BBC and elitist socialists, after working for the corporation. Miniluv was based on the BBC.

Eric Blair was a democratic socialist, who was opposed to all forms of totalitarianism - left or right. He wrote for the Tribune, a pretty elite socialist weekly - one of its directors was Aneurin Bevan. He left the BBC because of a report stating that very few Indians listened to his broadcasts, so maybe a case of jumping before being pushed. I find "The Road to Wigan Pier" probably gives a better picture of the man and his beliefs.
